New York Times Forced to Correct Key Covid ‘Fact’

 

Fairfax, Va. – Americans for Limited Government President Richard Manning issued the following statement today  in reaction to news that the New York Times was forced to issue a correction when it grossly overstated the number of children hospitalized due to Covid: 

“The New York Times had to correct a gross exaggeration of the number of children who have been hospitalized with COVID 19.  As the former newspaper of record, which now acts as a public relations arm of the far left, the Times is often at the front line of for legitimizing misinformation.  In the latest example, the paper claimed that ‘nearly 900,000 children had been hospitalized’ with COVID 19 when the real number is  ‘more than 63,000 children hospitalized from August 2020 to October 2021.’

“This is not just adding a zero by mistake, it is a clear instance of either a reporter and presumably their editor having no idea how to read data, or a blatant attempt to create a splash headline that would spread into the American consciousness as frighteningly real before anyone could get the truth out.  An honest look at the New York Times abuse of facts in the past, would lead any objective observer to conclude that manipulation rather than incompetence is at the root of the ‘mistake’.

“Remember, it was the New York Times which breathlessly ran with the story that Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick died from injuries sustained by being hit with a fire extinguisher on Jan. 6th.  In mid-February, the Times quietly changed the story after the entire country was led to believe that the Jan. 6 events at the Capitol were violent.  The Coroner’s report on Officer Sicknick’s death revealed that he died of a stroke that was unrelated to the Jan. 6th Capitol events.

“Facts matter, and one thing that is obviously true is that the New York Times no longer cares about facts, having sacrificed truth on the altar of a Marxist narrative long ago.”

McAuliffe Joins Federal Government in Seeking to Silence Parents

At stake is the relationship between the people and their government

 

Fairfax, Va. – Americans for Limited Government President Richard Manning issued the following statement today in reaction to news the Biden administration will use mobilize the Federal Bureau of Investigation against parents who speak out against public school board policies.

“Virginia gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe stated unequivocally that he does not believe parents have a place in their own children’s education at a debate last week.  Now, Biden Attorney General Merrick Garland has declared that parents opposing Critical Race Theory should be treated as terrorists by invoking the Patriot Act over their opposition.

“Historically, all Americans used to agree about the First Amendment to free speech. The First Amendment was created as a protection to our God-given right to be able to disagree with public policies, seek redress from the government, exercise freedom of religion and yes, run a newspaper or blog without government interference.  But McAuliffe  thinks that parents in the Commonwealth of Virginia should just sit down and shut up and accept the indoctrination of their children by those who are fundamentally transforming America.  And now the federal government is seeking to criminalize standing up for your children and the future of our nation by opposing Marxist indoctrination.  The issue is bigger than Critical Race Theory though, it is a question of the relationship between the people and their government.

“Virginia’s Thomas Jefferson defined this relationship in the Declaration of Independence writing, ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.’

“Virginia’s James Madison wrote the Constitution and Virginia’s George Mason played a major role in encapsulating this relationship through the first ten amendments to it, which today is known as the Bill of Rights.  The first of these is freedom of speech and religion.  And it is this first right that is at stake by both McAuliffe’s proclamation against parents role in the curricula taught in taxpayer funded schools.  It is this right which Washington, D.C. overlords want to scuttle by invoking a law that was mistakenly passed in response to the terrorist attack on 9/11 against parents who actually care enough about their kid’s education to show up at school board meetings to have their voices heard.

“As we watch Biden’s ongoing assault on commonsense and our basic freedoms, we are reminded that ‘elections have consequences.’  In Virginia you have an election for governor right now.  I am no Glenn Youngkin cheerleader, but his opponent has told Virginia voters what he thinks of them.  He has told Virginia’s parents that they don’t count. If Virginians do not go out right now to cast your ballots against this tyranny that the greatest sons of Virginia risked their lives and fortunes to oppose 245 years ago, then you will get the government you deserve.  One that rules you, rather than you ruling it.

“And as you are voting for the House of Delegates, please reject those who stand with McAuliffe in his dismissal of parent’s right to be heard.  It is a time for choosing, there are no excuses.  The left has bared their teeth and told you exactly who they are.  The only question that remains is will you kneel or will you stand and vote them from power?”

Biden’s Attack on Public School Parents Cannot Stand

Americans have a right to speak out and organize in favor or against public policies. 

Fairfax, Va. – Americans for Limited Government President Richard Manning issued the following statement in reaction to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland mobilizing the Federal Bureau of Investigation against parents who speak out against public school board policies.

“The Biden administration has gone into full attack mode against the First Amendment right to petition the government as his Attorney General has declared that parents opposing Critical Race Theory before their local school boards should be treated as terrorists under the Patriot Act.

“This abuse of that dubious post-September 11 law proves once again that while well-intentioned, twenty years later, the Patriot Act is one of the biggest legislative mistakes in our nation’s history.  The politicization of the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigations has led to many well-chronicled abuses of power. However, the brazen application of this anti-terrorism law against parents voicing opposition to a Marxist education policy that racist academicians are trying to force down the throats of their children is such a step beyond the intended scope of the law that Congress must take steps today to repeal it.

“The announcement by Attorney General Merrick Garland falls hard on the heels of an FBI request for 200,000 encrypted protonmail emails accounts in an unprecedented mass surveillance operation targeting conservatives.

“Congress needs to begin the process of repealing the Patriot Act, and holding Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray accountable for its abuse. In the meantime, state attorneys general need to push back hard against these broad, sweeping measures which criminalize political activism.  Governors, state legislatures, county commissions and school boards must denounce the characterization of the very taxpayers who pay for the schools as being terrorists because they support Martin Luther King, Jr’s ‘I have a dream’ vision.  And state and local governments should deny any and all public funds from being spent for membership in the National School Board Association which asked that the terrorist designation be given to parents opposing Critical Race Theory.  There is no excuse for a single taxpayer dollar to go to an organization which has declared war on the parents of the children entrusted to them.

“Americans have a right to hold election officials accountable for their decisions.  Americans have a right to petition government at all levels for redress.  Americans have a right to speak out and organize in favor or against public policies.  The attempt by Garland to criminalize these actions is grounds for his impeachment.”

Senate confirmation of eco-terrorist-linked activist proves Democrats are all radicals now

Fairfax, Va. – In response to the Senate confirmirmation of President Joe Biden’s eco-terrorist-linked nominee, Tracy Stone-Manning, to serve as the new Director of the Bureau of Land Management, Americans for Limited Government Presient Richard Manning issued the following statement:

“The lunatic fringe that is the Biden administration just got nuttier as the Senate confirmed on a party line vote the nomination of Tracy Stone-Manning to be the new Director of the Bureau of Land Management. Stone-Manning is an eco-terrorist and she will be directing the agency which oversees one in ten acres in the United States and 30 percent of our nation’s minerals. For all the accolades hoisted upon some Democrat senators for saving the filibuster and not caving on the absurd $3.5 trillion Biden Wreckonciliation bill, it must be shocking to some that not a single Democrat voted against a nominee who was involved in a tree-spiking case in the late 80s and early 90s. Tree spiking is the practice where a metal rod is put in a tree with the intent of breaking a saw blade and doing grave harm to the foresters operating it.

“Now she is going to be deciding whether any mineral leases will be let by the federal government and will have the capacity to effectively shut down any new mineral or oil and gas development. For all those who believed that Joe Biden would be a ‘moderate’ president, Stone-Manning puts those notions to bed forever. The fact every Democrat in the Senate voted for her nomination, makes it clear that the idea of ‘moderate’ Democrats is defunct.”

Democrats Will Own A Government Shutdown

Democrats wanted to run government on partisan basis, they can own the consequences.

Fairfax, Va. – The White House on Thursday began to advise federal agencies to prepare for the first government shutdown of the Covid-19 era and the administration’s Office of Management and Budget is alerting federal agencies that, barring a new appropriations bill, they are expected to execute shutdown plans next week. Americans for Limited Government President Richard Manning issued the following statement in reaction to the developing story:

“Federal government office buildings have been virtually vacant for the past eighteen months because federal workers still haven’t returned from the Covid shutdown.  What’s more, in the past three years, federal workers pay has been guaranteed in the event of a ‘shutdown’ which explains why Speaker Pelosi has had the House of Representatives on recess for all of September.  If there is a ‘government shutdown,’ it lies directly on the doorstep of the Speaker, Majority Leader and the president.  Their on-going choice to take their non-existent majority in the Senate and three vote majority in the House of Representatives and  attempt to fundamentally transform America through it, has created the likely shutdown.  They wanted to run the federal government on a strictly partisan basis, so now they own the consequences of that decision.

“Over the next seven days, Democrats will need to work with Republicans to strike out their extremist agenda and include some policy language that limits government power in a number of areas to fix the chasm of distrust they have created. One obvious area that must be addressed is the Biden threat to ration Covid medicines as a weapon to force compliance with his forced vaccination dictates.

“Sen. Marco Rubio has drafted legislative language to allow local hospitals to order Covid cures such as monoclonal antibodies treatment directly from the manufacturer, rather than having to go through federal or state government. This would cut off Biden’s ability to deny access to medicines to those most in need. The reality of health care rationing under a federal government controlled health care system is now out in the open, and can no longer be denied.

“I would like to see Sen. Rubio’s proposal included as an amendment to any government funding bill under consideration. This would go a significant way toward ending the Biden adminisration’s attempt to ration healthcare by inserting the government between a patient and their doctor.”

Newsom is destroying California and must go

Recall election is California’s chance to reclaim their state

Fairfax, Va. – Every California voter who believes in individual liberties needs to vote in the recall election. Voting ends on Tuesday, Sept. 14. Ballots can be hand-delivered, sent through the mail, or submitted in person.

“This election is about more than one failed governor. It is about the priorities in the state. Gov. Gavin Newsom’s implementation of a criminal catch-and-release program has resulted in a crime wave that affects every Californian.

“Newsom’s refusal to follow basic forest management practices, as well as his decision to cut the budget for firefighters, equipment, and fire breaks has led to the devastating fires that continue to ravage some of the most beautiful land and forests in the world.

“Lastly, under Newsom’s failed leadership, California has become a taxpayer disaster and if not for the voters in 2020, Newsom would have stripped away property tax protections with Proposition 13.

“The recall is California’s chance to reclaim their state and anyone who is registered to vote in the state or knows people who are, needs to encourage them to vote to recall Newsom.”

“The Producer Price Index is a precursor to what retail prices will be doing in months ahead, and the August report is more bad news. The 8.3 percent annual increase in final demand signals that Americans will be paying much more for goods and services in coming months and verifies what everyone who pays their own bills already knows, Joe Biden’s America is a much more expensive place to live and it is going to get worse.

“It is time for Congress to just put a stop to the madness and refuse to pass the budget reconciliation bill. Our nation cannot afford to hit the accelerator when we are already feeling the inflation pain from our prior debt excesses.”

Arizona Attorney General Rejects Tucson’s Covid Vaccine Mandate

Every American has the fundamental right to make their own choices when it comes to vaccines

Fairfax, Va. – Americans for Limited Government President Richard Manning issued the following statement in reaction to an official finding by Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich on Tuesday stating that a Tucson city ordinance requiring city employees get Covid vaccinated or face suspension is illegal:

“The city was in clear violation of a law passed by state lawmakers in June which specifically prohibits state and local governments from requiring any person to be vaccinated for Covid.

“We applaud AG Mark Brnovich for standing up for the rule of law. Progressive, power-hungry politicians have trampled on our civil liberties and individual freedoms during this pandemic. We need more elected officials fighting back against this unconstitutional takeover of our country.

“While it is true the state law doesn’t take effect until the end of September, Brnovich was right to put a halt to vaccine mandates now. An employee forced to obtain a vaccine now cannot go back and undo any harm that might occur.

“Americans for Limited Government is fighting these government mandates across the country. So far, our supporters have sent one million emails to local, state, and federal lawmakers rejecting Covid vaccine mandates and passports.

“We need more lawmakers to stand up like Brnovich to protect our freedoms. This is not a case against vaccines, just against vaccine mandates. Every American has the fundamental right to make their own choices when it comes to vaccines, and what they choose to do is no one’s business, least of all the government’s.”

Background:

In a letter to city officials, the solicitor general, writing for Brnovich, said the Aug. 13 vote by the Tucson City Council directly conflicts with a statute approved in June by state lawmakers. It specifically prohibits state and local governments from requiring any person to be vaccinated for Covid.

The letter states that strictly speaking, SB1824 does not take effect until Sept. 29. But the attorney general wants an immediate halt to prevent what he said could be harm to city workers who are forced to roll up their sleeves, even for a law not yet in effect.

“Nothing is more coercive than a government mandate to do something that’s soon going to become illegal,” Brnovich told Capitol Media Services.

Biden Education Secretary Plays Politics with Mask Mandates

 Biden Administration Should Investigate NYC’s Racially Discriminatory Covid Restrictions 

Fairfax, Va. – Americans for Limited Government President Richard Manning issued the following statement in reaction to breaking news that the Biden Department of Education has launched civil rights probes against five Republican-led states that banned mask mandates in public institutions.

“Given the fact that African-Americans are significantly less likely to get the COVID vaccine than other demographic groups, if the Biden Administration were actually concerned about civil rights, they would open a probe of every organization that is mandating vaccines for entrance or participation.

“On the mask front, the Americans with Disability Act requires that accommodations be made for people with breathing diseases, such as asthma, who cannot wear masks. They are a protected group under the law. So, once again, any probe under the law must be of those who are violating the rights of people with disabilities rather than states which are making masks an individual choice.

“Finally, I will take the Justice Department’s concern about COVID-related civil rights abuses the moment they serve former Governor Andrew Cuomo a subpoena to testify about his nursing home policies which led to tens of thousands of elderly deaths. The Cuomo policies were state-sanctioned senior abuse and a full and complete federal investigation should be undertaken to determine if Cuomo was deliberately targeting seniors to die or if he was just an incompetent boob who was so worried about his Emmy-winning performances that he didn’t care that he was killing many of the most vulnerable seniors in the state so long as his make-up was right in his daily press conference reality show.”

The department’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) sent letters to education leaders in Oklahoma, South Carolina, Iowa, Tennessee, and Utah. The recipients did not include Florida or Texas, whose governors have been battling school districts in their states over mask requirements for weeks. However, the agency said it is “closely monitoring” the conduct of those states and is prepared to take action against them if warranted.
