The internet is a better place with Parler relaunching

Feb. 15, 2021, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issue the following statement praising the announced relaunch of Parler.com saying:

“This is a great step toward providing a counterbalance to the Silicon Valley techno-fascists who are intent on stopping any speech that they don’t like. Over the many weeks since Parler was taken down by a combination of Apple, Google and Amazon to the applause of Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, America has witnessed a brazen collaboration by tech giants to stop mainstream voices from objecting to their radical, extremist agenda.  Facebook took down actor Kevin Sorbo’s page this weekend for the sin of posting honest and funny critiques of Biden policies.  Twitter is de-platforming people so fast that it is impossible to keep up and YouTube is running a virtual jihad against content that has the audacity to not toe their collectivist ideology.

“Parler allows all sides to be heard and doesn’t block those who follow a group like Americans for Limited Government (@limitgov) from seeing our content. This allows people to decide what voices they want to read and not some anonymous, Silicon Valley twit.  The Internet is a better place with free and open conversations and discussions, and Parler’s return is good news indeed for America.”

House Impeachment Managers Violated Official Code of Conduct

Democrats managing Trump impeachment trial guilty of gross violations of House ethics rules

Fairfax, Va. – Rick Manning, President of Americans for Limited Government, sent a letter today to the House Committee on Ethics calling for an investigation into the conduct of the Democrats managing the Trump impeachment trial in the Senate. Manning said it is clear that the House Members who produced and played a Feb. 9 video during the trial violated House Ethics Rules and “may be subject to discipline for the dissemination by electronic means, including by social media, of any image, video, or audio file that has been distorted or manipulated with the intent to mislead the public.”

In the letter, Manning wrote, “The intent of the edited video is to persuade the Senate that Trump was inciting violence by playing clips of the speech, interspersed with rioting at the U.S. Capitol building. But it takes many of these quotes out of context to deliberately misconstrue their meaning.”

Manning is calling for an investigation into the conduct of the House impeachment managers including Democrat Representatives Jamie Raskin (MD), Diana DeGette (CO), David Cicilline (RI), Joaquin Castro (TX), Eric Swalwell (CA), Ted Lieu (CA), Stacey Plaskett (U.S. Virgin Islands), Madeleine Dean (PA), and Joe Neguse (CO).

Biden Wrong to Consider Restricting Travel to Florida

Covid numbers show this is not about saving lives, it’s about power

Fairfax, Va.According to the Associated Press, the Biden administration is considering imposing domestic travel restrictions, including on Florida, citing concerns of coronavirus mutations.

Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning had the following reaction:

“Florida has a dramatically lower Covid death rate than states such as New York and New Jersey. In fact, Florida’s Covid death is below the national average.  What’s more, the top five states with people who have had Covid are California, Texas, Florida, New York, and Illinois, which just so happen to be the five most populous states in the country. Of those states, New York and California and Illinois are for basically economically closed, while Texas and Florida are open. The Covid outcomes in Texas and Florida are significantly better than their closed counterparts.

“If the current occupant of the Oval Office wants to follow the science, he should issue an executive order demanding that all of the closed states reopen, as it is clear that destroying a state’s economy has nothing to do with saving lives and everything to do with power.

“Of course, if he did that, he’d be admitting that his predecessor was right and that the ‘dark winter’ that he predicted doesn’t have to come.”

Time to end Covid emergency orders

All gubernatorial emergency orders should be canceled and instead be presented to the legislatures for their approval

Fairfax, Va. –  The cold reality is setting in that the Covid virus is no longer a short term  emergency, but an ongoing problem.  Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning is urging state lawmakers to take a leadership role in addressing Covid and to stop deferring to executive orders from governors. He issued the following statement:

“State emergency orders are supposed to be for short time events where the legislature is unavailable to meet to consider appropriate alternatives. They are not an excuse for state executives to become mini-dictators. Most state legislatures either are in session or will be in session in the weeks ahead and as a result all gubernatorial emergency orders should be canceled and instead be presented to the legislatures for their approval. It is unconscionable for governors to cut elected state representatives out of the decision-making process. It is time to recognize that Covid is no longer an emergency and instead should be treated as an on-going problem which should be incorporated into normal spending and budget calculations.”

Senate Democrats refuse to reopen schools even after teachers vaccinated

Feb. 5, 2021, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement in response to the Senate rejecting on a 50-50 vote an amendment by Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) that would have blocked emergency Covid relief funds to schools that refuse to reopen even after teachers have been vaccinated:

“It is inexcusable for Senate Democrats to endorse the government sanctioned child abuse by local teachers unions who refuse to teach under any circumstances.  The fact that Senate Democrats refused to deny federal monies to schools which refuse to reopen even though the teachers have been vaccinated is an admission that when it comes to public education, Democrats believe that the needs of children are the lowest priority.”

Senate must adopt Sen. Rubio’s amendment to reopen schools

American taxpayers should not reward school systems that refuse to do their jobs.

Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement urging the U.S. Senate to adopt an amendment by Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) that would block $170 billion of stimulus funds for schools unless they reopen by April 30:

“Failure to vote in favor of the Rubio amendment is anti-child. The ugly truth is that every day public schools remain closed, children including those with disabilities are denied the rehabilitative education they are promised under federal law, with lifetime consequences. Young children are denied the building blocks for reading, writing and arithmetic that are essential during their formative years while their brains are sponges. And high schoolers are unable to meet their academic needs to smoothly move on to college.

“It is imperative that schools which remain closed, denying children a public education, are not rewarded with any more stimulus money without being compelled to reopen. The science is clear, as the CDC has stated, that reopening schools is safe even without vaccines. By April 30, teachers who want a vaccination should have received a vaccination based on their place in the priority list.

“American taxpayers should not reward school systems that refuse to do their jobs, hurting those who are dependent on the public system for their education the most.  A vote for the Rubio amendment is a vote for the future, and Americans for Limited Government urges a yes vote.”

GOP House Members urged to fight Pelosi attack on newly elected Member

Republicans should refuse to participate in Democrat hit job

Fairfax, Va. – House Democrats are demanding Republicans strip freshman Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of her two committee assignments unless she denounces QAnon and apologizes publicly for backing conspiracy theories and supporting calls for violence against Democrats.

Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning issued the following statement in response:

“Americans for Limited Government denounces all calls for political violence, whether from the left or the right. When Rep. Maxine Waters and other Democrats called for physical violence against Trump supporters, Speaker Nancy Pelosi gave them a pass. But of course there is always a double standard when it comes to Republicans. Pelosi, who famously praised union radicals who occupied and took over the Wisconsin Capitol for more than a week, now has the audacity to try to intimidate GOP leaders into agreeing to strip freshman Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of her committee assignments.

“GOP leaders need to be strong on this and not heel to the Nazi-like demands of the left. For GOP leadership to scramble in fear of Pelosi is a sign that they learned nothing from Donald Trump. When the swamp tries to take you down, you stand and fight.”

White House communications team tramples freedom of press

Will compliant press go along with White House scheme to limit free press?

Fairfax, Va. – The Biden White House communications team has requested that reporters submit their questions in writing prior to the daily White House briefings. This is an authoritarian attempt to control the press. Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning issued the following statement in reaction to the development:

“The only surprising thing about the Biden press team requesting that reporters share their questions in advance of briefings is that Biden staffers are not pre-writing the questions for reporters!  The stunning inability of the White House talking head to answer simple questions in the early part of the administration, while things are relatively less complicated, is matched only by the audacity of Joe Biden’s virtually invisible presidential campaign.

“I am confident that once the White House Press office has their scripts in the hands of the compliant press corps that things will go much more smoothly in briefings.”

Urge the Senate to reject the unconstitutional impeachment of former President Donald Trump!

This is about defending liberty and stopping an unconstitutional impeachment that lacks due process, evidence and threatens the freedom of speech of all Americans!

If the Jan. 6 Capitol attack was pre-planned then it couldn’t have been incited by former President Donald Trump’s speech, who on Jan. 6 called for protesters to be peaceful: “We have come to demand that Congress do the right thing and only count the electors who have been lawfully slated, lawfully slated. I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.”

The more we learn about the assault on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 following the Save America Rally that coincided with objections being raised in Congress to the results of the Electoral College and the certification of President-elect Joe Biden, the more evidence emerges it was pre-planned by multiple groups on the who targeted the rally, the Capitol and even the Republican and Democratic National Committee headquarters.

CLICK HERE TO SEND YOUR SENATORS AN EMAIL URGING THEM TO VOTE AGAINST THE UNCONSTITUTIONAL IMPEACHMENT OF FORMER PRESIDENT TRUMP.

Specifically, Steven D’Antuono, the head of the FBI field office in Washington, D.C. told reporters on Jan. 12 that “We developed some intelligence that a number of individuals were planning to travel to the D.C. area with intentions to cause violence,” including a post on a message board that stated “Congress needs to hear glass breaking, doors being kicked in…” In addition, in Washington, D.C. pipe bombs were planted at both the Republican National Committee (RNC) and the Democratic National Committee (DNC). According to D’Antuono, “those two pipe bombs that were found, were found both outside the RNC and the DNC offices near the Capitol grounds and look to begin, they were real devices. They had explosive igniters. They had timers.”

So, right off the bat, the FBI had intelligence ahead of time that violence was pre-planned targeting the rally, including bombs being planted. Meaning, no matter what former President Trump said at the rally, there would have been violence at the Capitol. Whoever attacked police that day and pre-planned this attack should be the ones who are held accountable — not Trump and not the 74 million Americans who voted for him!

You know what to do! Urge the U.S. Senate to immediately dismiss this impeachment against former President Donald Trump! It’s not even constitutional to have a trial against a former president, and Congress cannot falsely turn a speech calling for peaceful protest protected by the First Amendment into a crime.

There is no question this was a planned attack. Journalist Glenn Greenwald on Twitter reported that planning was not isolated to a single website, noting in a tweet on Jan. 11, “Do you know how many of the people arrested in connection with the Capitol invasion were active users of Parler? Zero. The planning was largely done on Facebook.”

In his own report on Substack.com, criticizing the deplatforming of Parler by Amazon, Apple and Google, Greenwald noted, “It is true that one can find postings on Parler that explicitly advocate violence or are otherwise grotesque. But that is even more true of Facebook, Google-owned YouTube, and Twitter. And contrary to what many have been led to believe, Parler’s Terms of Service includes a ban on explicit advocacy of violence, and they employ a team of paid, trained moderators who delete such postings. Those deletions do not happen perfectly or instantaneously — which is why one can find postings that violate those rules — but the same is true of every major Silicon Valley platform. Indeed, a Parler executive told me that of the thirteen people arrested as of Monday for the breach at the Capitol, none appear to be active users of Parler. The Capitol breach was planned far more on Facebook and YouTube.”

Subsequent Justice Department filings bear this out, with violent members of the crowd planning the Capitol breach as early as Jan. 1 on Facebook.

This is about defending liberty and stopping an unconstitutional impeachment that lacks due process, evidence and threatens the freedom of speech of all Americans! Tell the U.S. Senate you’ve had enough. The voices of the many must not be silenced because of the actions of the few.

Clinesmith deal exposes two-tiered justice system

This slap on the wrist for doctoring evidence is outrageous.

Fairfax, Va. – Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement blasting a sentencing deal of merely one year probation for ex-FBI official Kevin Clinesmith for doctoring an email to make it appear Carter Page was a Russian agent when he was actually cooperating with the U.S. government in an investigation of Russian intelligence officials. This was done to keep the false Trump-Russia probe going in 2017:

“This slap on the wrist for doctoring evidence is outrageous. It sends a clear message to Justice Department employees that they can fundamentally alter documents in an attempt to destroy a presidency with a prolonged investigation based on a false pretenses with almost zero repercussions.

“It is almost impossible for the incoming Biden administration to not receive the message that anything and everything goes when it comes to investigating their political opponents, and then if exposed, no one will be held accountable. If President Biden wants unity and to prove to America that we don’t have a two-tiered justice system, then he must allow Special Counsel John Durham’s investigation to move ahead unfettered regardless of who ends up in jail.”
