Pelosi holds labor market recovery hostage

Oct. 2, 2020, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement on the latest jobs numbers and urging Congress to conclude its negotiations on phase four legislation:

“America is in one the midst of one of the most rapid economic recoveries in history, with 14.1 million jobs recovered since April, and it is in large part thanks to the leadership of President Trump in pushing Congress to act early in the pandemic to shore up the economy. But there is still a lot more to do.

“As of August, 7.6 million additional Americans found themselves unemployed year-over-year as a result of the state-led Covid lockdowns, 5.1 million of whom live in states with Democratic governors. In other words, more than two-thirds of the jobs left to be recovered are in Blue States, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s failure to come to a deal sooner looms large. She is punishing her own people and holding them hostage to extract more out of the negotiations. Small business funding ran out on Aug. 8. Critical industry funding including airlines just ran out now, and massive layoffs are ensuing.

“Now with today’s jobs numbers, while positive in the establishment survey with 661,000 jobs recovered, is concerning on the household side with 879,000 Americans leaving the labor force altogether. Those are Americans who predominantly live Democratic-run states and for who there is no recovery, and there will not be one for some time if the recovery stalls. We still have a way’s to go to get back all the jobs lost.

“Senate Republicans have had legislation for months that would extend the unemployment, small business and critical industry funding programs and shore up the miraculous recovery seen the past five months, with 14.1 million jobs recovered in the household survey. Ironically, the Senate plan disproportionately helps Blue States since that is where the businesses are shut down and employees remain stranded due to Democrat Governor shutdowns. Since both the White House, Senate and House of Representatives already are largely in agreement on extending unemployment along with small business and critical industry funding programs, Congress should get these items done now. Anything left over can be the subject of the election debate.”

Manning Responds to Chinese Editor Mocking President Trump and First Lady

Fairfax, Va. – Rick Manning, president of Americans for Limited Government, issued the following statement in response to the editor of a Chinese state-run media outlet mocking President Trump and first lady Melania Trump following their positive coronavirus tests:

“The Communist Chinese government affirmatively decided to export the Chinese virus to the world through their lying about the transmission of the virus and continuing international flights from Wuhan while ending domestic flights from the region where the virus originated. They have proven that they are among the most despicable leaders on the face of the Earth and enemy number one for the United States in the world. As if forced organ harvesting, child- and slave-labor, millions in concentration camps, and a social credit score system which denies work and travel to those who don’t toe the communist line is not enough, now they are attacking President Trump as he and his family deal with the effects of the disease they unleashed. It adds insult to injury.

“It is not surprising that the Communist government with its strong ties to both Joe Biden (through his son) and Kamala Harris (through her husband) is involving itself into U.S. electoral politics. What is mildly surprising is that American media has so readily ignored these dangerous connections.  Their current see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil stance when it comes to real penetration into the highest levels of our political system is unacceptable and complicit.

“Make no mistake America, China has a side in this election and right now Americans will get to pick their side.  And to the Chinese,  get out of our politics.”

Get well, Mr. President and First Lady, get well.

Oct. 2, 2020, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement sending prayers to President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump who have tested positive for COVID-19:

“Our prayers are with the First Family today for a speedy recovery from the Chinese-originated virus. Prayer works. Today our entire nation, no matter their political affiliation should join together in praying for their rapid recovery. Get well Mr. President and First Lady, get well.”

ALG to White House: ‘Divest China & Reform Civil Service’

Rick Manning Presses His Case with Trump

Fairfax, Va. – Americans for Limited Government president Rick Manning is urging President Trump to take action on two of the group’s top policy priorities, divesting U.S. taxpayer dollars from China and reforming the federal workforce.

Manning, a former Department of Labor appointee under President George W. Bush, is pushing for reforms that would halt all taxpayer pensions from being invested in Chinese companies.

Manning is calling for the Labor Department to immediately impose transparency rules on private pensions and investments. In addition, he is calling on the Labor Department to divest all funds in non-transparent investments under the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC), a federally chartered corporation designed to encourage voluntary private defined benefit pension plans .Third, Manning is pushing for federal employee defined benefit plans to divest from non-transparent assets as well.

Currently, Americans have an estimated $2.8 billion of PBGC assets in the MSCI Emerging Markets index, which includes about $800 million in China.

In a letter to President Trump this week, Manning wrote, “No President in our lifetimes has been tougher on China than you have been. Your administration has courageously and steadfastly taken on China’s many trade abuses, threats to national security and human rights abuses.”

Manning is also urging the White House to reform the federal civil service, a bloated bureaucracy that has allowed unproductive, incompetent, and outright lazy workers to stay on the government payroll for decades.

“Right now, it can take years just to terminate an employee with cause. In a modern workplace, that is simply ludicrous,” Manning said.

“With the federal government still working from home to a large extent, this is the perfect time to reevaluate the current structure of the civil service with an eye to modernization, flexibility and increasing efficiency,” he concluded.

Biden’s refusal to answer court-packing, ending filibuster reveals true character

Sept. 30, 2020, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement responding to former Vice President Joe Biden’s refusal to answer the question about court-packing and eliminating the filibuster at the first presidential debate of 2020:

“Joe Biden revealed that there will be no place for competing points of view should he become President when he refused to denounce Senate Democrats’ plan to end the filibuster and pack the Supreme Court.

“It is no surprise that the Senate would plan to eliminate the filibuster rule they have used to thwart President Trump’s legislative agenda. The abuse of this process is one of the primary reasons why our budget deficit is out of control with dramatic increases in spending under the threat of shutting down the government. If they win, they don’t want to be constrained by the filibuster the same way Trump and Senate Republicans were.

“While ending the filibuster could at least be rationalized, packing the Supreme Court would be a wholesale attack on the independence of the Judiciary. The message from Joe Biden is clear, he will pick as many Supreme Court Justices as it takes to get the judicial outcomes that he demands. For Biden, as someone who spent a lifetime in the Senate, including his stint at the Senate Judiciary Committee, to so cavalierly dismiss judicial independence is shocking and revealing about his true character. While some claim that they didn’t learn anything at the debates, the sad truth is, we learned that a Joe Biden presidency will not be constrained by the fundamental minority rights that were set forth by the Constitution and James Madison.”

Debate Fact Check: Biden campaign website calls Green New Deal ‘a crucial framework’

Sept. 29, 2020, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning issued the following statement in response to former Vice President Joe Biden’s claim in the first debate that “The Green New Deal is not my plan,” noting that on JoeBiden.com, his official campaign website, it clearly states “Biden believes the Green New Deal is a crucial framework for meeting the climate challenges we face”:

“Joe Biden is lying. Right on Joe Biden’s website, it says, ‘Biden believes the Green New Deal is a crucial framework for meeting the climate challenges we face,’ promising to cut carbon emissions in half by 2035. While it’s little wonder why Biden would want to run away from an idea that ultimately endorses eliminating the internal combustion engine plus coal and other fossil fuels as a source of electricity, it is beyond belief that the former Vice President is not familiar with his own campaign’s economy-killing policy proposals. Maybe it really is the Harris-Biden campaign.”

Trump is Right: ‘China Ate Your Lunch, Joe’

Fairfax, Va. – Rick Manning, president of Americans for Limited Government, issued the following statement in reaction to tonight’s presidential debate in which President Trump told Joe Biden, “China ate your lunch, Joe” in reference to Biden’s China First policies.

“For almost 50 years Biden has supported policies that have benefitted China and hurt American workers.

“As a senator twenty years ago, Biden supported giving communist China most favored nation trade status by voting for permanent normalized trade relations with Beijing.

“He supported policies that sent U.S. manufacturing jobs overseas. In fact, entire plants have been uprooted and moved to China in search of cheap labor, while Biden mouthed the words fed to him by the multi-national companies who most benefitted from outsourcing America’s manufacturing sector and the jobs it created.

“Biden has been silent about the child and slave labor findings of the U.S. Department of Labor, ignoring that the cheap labor he has advocated is really provided in many cases by children and oppressed minorities and political prisoners in one of the most oppressive countries in the world.

“Rather than being concerned about the American job drain to China, Biden negotiated a Memorandum of Understanding in 2013 with China giving Chinese companies access to the U.S. capital markets without conforming to American laws on transparency. This single act has led to billions upon billions of dollars being transferred to China, allowing them to engage in almost unprecedented military build-up that threatens the United States and our pacific allies. In addition, because there is no way to know the true value of these companies, American investors are vulnerable to fraud.

“The financial link between former vice president Biden and China is obvious, though relatively unreported. After traveling to China aboard Air Force Two with his father, Hunter Biden walked away with a billion-dollar investment deal funded by the Chinese. The investment company is supposed to find U.S. assets for China to buy and generally make it easier for U.S. capital to flow to China.  A great deal for the Chinese and the younger Biden which should excite those who believe in Biden’s China First policies.

“When ‘Lunch Bucket Joe’ dismissed concerns about unfair Chinese competition, by saying, “Come on, man!” he is either willfully ignorant, corrupt to the core, or stuck in a twentieth century foreign policy that has no relevance to the challenges and Sino-American relations today.

Americans Don’t Care About Biden’s Tax Returns, They Care About Their Own

Fairfax, Va. – Rick Manning, president of Americans for Limited Government, issued the following statement in reaction to Joe Biden releasing of his tax returns:

“This is nothing more than a debate diversion. Joe Biden doesn’t want to talk about the real issue, how his failed policies have hurt the tax returns of hard-working Americans in the past and will hurt them again if he’s elected president.

“Biden desperately wants to avoid talking about his almost half-century in American politics. He has a spent his career in Washington outsourcing American jobs abroad and hollowing out our nation’s manufacturing base.  Joe doesn’t want to talk about his vote for the disastrous NAFTA trade deal that set off the giant sucking sound of U.S. manufacturing jobs leaving our country.

“Biden doesn’t want to talk about his vote to give China ‘most favored nation’ trade status twenty years ago. This gave China the lowest tariff rate on the card and encouraged U.S. manufacturers to relocate to China. He certainly doesn’t want to talk about how he negotiated a Memorandum of Understanding that allowed Chinese companies to be part of the U.S. stock exchanges without meeting basic transparency and open books standards that U.S. companies must meet.  This single decision created billions of dollars in capital for China while putting U.S. investors at extraordinary risk.

“Instead, Biden wants to talk about tax returns.  One thing we know about President Trump’s tax return is that it won’t show a penny earned from the U.S. taxpayer. Trump has chosen to donate his salary to the U.S. Department of Agriculture for farmer outreach programs in the first quarter, and health related federal programs in the second, third and fourth quarters of 2019.

“Meanwhile 2019 is only the third year in almost half a century that Biden has not received a salary from the taxpayers, setting aside his very generous federal government retirement pension.

“No one cares about Joe Biden or Donald Trump’s tax returns. They care about their own tax returns. Under a Biden administration one thing is certain, more than 60% of Americans will see their taxes go up if he keeps his promise to repeal the Trump tax cuts.

“Americans will see their job prospects plummet as Biden puts the federal government boot on our energy and manufacturing sectors. His energy policies will end the energy production jobs that have revitalized Pennsylvania and Ohio among other states. Biden’s energy schemes make us dependent on middle eastern oil producers who don’t like us very much.

“When Biden talks about his tax returns, ask yourself what his green new deal, Paris Climate Accord, increased income taxes, and increased regulatory agenda will do to yours?”

Trump Still Building the Border Wall

Fairfax, Va. – In spite of Covid-19, the Trump administration is on track to hit its goal of building 450 miles of border wall by the end of this year. Currently, crews have built 341 miles and are averaging more than a mile-a-day of new wall. To date, they have used 509,000 tons of steel and 732,000 cubic yards of concrete to construct the wall.

Rick Manning, president of Americans for Limited Government, issued the following statement in reaction to the update:

“President Donald Trump continues to keep promises as 341 miles of new border security wall have been put up with the past three months averaging more than a mile a day.  In spite of constant fighting with Democrats who opposed this basic measure, the Trump administration is on pace to hit its goal of building 450 miles of wall by the end of the year.

“Protecting America from illegal immigration, the free flow of drugs across the border, and the national security threats of the open border has been a priority which President Trump has fought tooth and nail to achieve.  The President knows that you cannot have a secure America without a secure border and has expended massive amounts of political capital to keep this promise.  No one can doubt that this President has been resolute in his determination to stop the flow of illegal traffic across our border, the same cannot be said of Joe Biden.

“The Obama-Biden administration built the cages and put children in them along the southern border.  The Obama-Biden administration oversaw and encouraged the flooding of our southern border with illegal immigrants.  The Obama-Biden administration gave lip-service to southern border security while allowing the few barriers along the border to fall into disrepair.  President Trump has not only been busy building the wall, but because Mexico has begun cooperating with us and is now turning back illegal entrants, there has been a significant drop in the numbers of illegal entrants into our country.”

“What’s more, President Trump has cracked down on those who have used the legal VISA provisions under law to replace American workers with cheaper foreign labor, in many cases forcing the displaced Americans to train their replacements.”

House Dems do nothing while Pelosi blocks small business funding CARES Act renewal

Sept. 28, 2020, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement blasting vulnerable House Democrats who were only elected in 2018 for not doing more to push House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to renew the payroll protection program for small businesses in the CARES Act, which ran out of money on Aug. 8:

“Since labor markets bottomed in April after the Covid lockdowns, 13.8 million jobs have been recovered according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, and one of the biggest reasons was because the Trump administration and Congress worked together on the CARES Act, that provided $525 billion to 5.2 million small businesses, which may have saved as many as 50 million jobs. But funds for this small business saving program ended on Aug. 8 as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has blocked any renewal, while House Democrats have done nothing to persuade her to work with Senate Republicans to get an extension with 11 million jobs still on the sidelines. The only way the remainder of the jobs lost in the state-led pandemic lockdowns will be recovered is by providing support to safely reopen the economy and schools, something Nancy Pelosi will not allow to happen so long as she remains Speaker and those who elected her Speaker are directly responsible for this reckless course. House Democrats clearly oppose reopening the economy in this vital time, and they own  Pelosi’s policy of leaving the country shut down forever destroying the hopes and dreams of millions of working families.”
