Economy comes roaring back, Chinese-originated virus job losses almost cut in half in May and June

July 2, 2020, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement on the latest jobs numbers:

“Almost 5 million Americans got a job in the month of June, marking the second straight month of economic recovery after our nation’s economy was ravaged by the after effects of the Chinese-originated virus.  Since the bottom of the temporary, but dramatic economic slowdown almost 8.8 million Americans have gotten jobs, meaning almost one-half of the COVID job losses have been erased since the two-month economic shutdown sidelined a between a little more than 17 million workers.

“With many Governors in states like New York, Illinois and California effectively continuing to turn a blind eye to the economic ravages of the shutdown response, and many Americans remaining cautious about re-entering the normal day to day activities that were taken for granted in February of this year, it is almost a miracle that the our economy has risen so rapidly.

“As President Trump’s landmark ending of NAFTA, replacing it with the new USMCA trade deal with Canada and Mexico, which protects intellectual property, ends currency manipulation, allows more dairy products to be sold to Canada and makes manufacturing in America even more desirable, took effect yesterday, the economic pieces are coming into place to create a robust second half of 2020.

“It is important to remember that from April 2019 to February 2020, fewer Americans were unemployed than at any time since January of 2001, even though the civilian labor force was almost 22 million people larger in February 2020.

“The economy was very strong when China lied to the world about the COVID virus, continuing to allow flights from the Wuhan Province to Europe and Asia, even as they shut down domestic travel from the site of the virus’ origin.  Now, because of that underlying strength, the economy is recovering.  Let’s hope that those Democrat operatives and their gubernatorial allies who have publicly worried that a recovering economy helps President Trump’s re-election for once put the economic well-being of the people above their petty political interests.”

Draining the swamp hurts Bushies’ feelings

July 1, 2020, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement in response to reports that hundreds of former George W. Bush officials are planning to endorse Joe Biden for President this year:

“As a former political appointee of President George W. Bush, I strongly urge Americans to vote for Donald Trump’s re-election.  President Trump has cut taxes and significantly lowered the regulatory burden on our nation’s economic engine which created the greatest jobs economy since jobs data was recorded.  And President Trump has been unafraid to reposition America in the world. Our NATO allies are now paying more of their fair share for the defense of their own countries, we have dumped the disastrous NAFTA deal for a much more America friendly U.S-Mexico-Canada trade agreement, we have new trade deals with South Korea and Japan, the U.S. Embassy to Israel has moved to Jerusalem, and most importantly, President Trump has resisted the call by the foreign policy elites for more endless wars.

“President Trump has appointed and had confirmed 200 federal judges remaking the formerly liberal judiciary in under one term.  Between 2021 and 2025, there could be two or three additional Supreme Court appointees, and a Trump presidency ensures that some sanity may be restored to our nation’s highest court.  A Biden presidency would mean higher taxes, the New Green Deal and more liberal judges and justices.

“The globalist vision of America has completely and utterly failed Americans.  Donald Trump has changed course away from our nation serving as the donor state for the socialist dreams of Europe and the communist Chinese government’s aggressive expansionist policies. The China policy is the most glaring example of this failure. The futile hope that by enriching China, they would embrace capitalism has collapsed, as China has used the wealth gained from their trade advantage, the intellectual property that they stole from our companies, universities and government, and the labor that they enslaved to build a military designed to defeat us in battle combined with their engaging in grotesque human rights abuses of Muslim Uyghers and their burgeoning Christian population has turned this hope to a nightmare.

“Donald Trump has changed this course, and those who have benefitted most from the failed American trade policy of the two Bush presidencies, Clinton and Obama, or are too dumb to recognize its failure would rather have the radicals on the streets take the levers of power in our nation and lead the way to China’s hegemony in the world than to see President Trump serve four more years.

“Personally, I feel sorry for those so engorged in hate and fear of the common sense changes that President Trump has brought forward that they cannot see that America is the world’s best hope for freedom and that beacon shines most brightly when our people are prospering. Prior to the unleashing of the Chinese-originated virus, Americans were working and making more money with very low inflation.  The wage growth was concentrated on those who made the least, and truly lifted all boats.  Record low unemployment for Blacks, Hispanics, and Asians showed that the Trump economy knew no colors.  An economic expansion was made possible due to sensible trade policy and tried and true Republican principles of lower taxes and less government intrusion into our lives.  Yet, some former of my former colleagues in the Bush administration are now rejecting these very principles in their endorsement of an empty suit Biden who has promised to strangle America energy independence with his Green New Deal, impose nationalized health care, raise taxes on 83 percent of Americans by repealing the Trump tax cuts, and roll back our historic friendship with Israel.

“I understand that President Trump’s rough demeanor seems so coarse to the erudite Ivy crowd, but the world is a coarse place and America is better and stronger when we are free rather than knuckling under to two-bit thugs whether they be foreign or domestic. I stand with President Trump and invite the thousands of former George W. Bush political appointees to publicly join me.”

Trump keeps promise to end NAFTA

July 1, 2020, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement praising President Donald Trump and his administration for successful launch of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement trade deal and the end of NAFTA:

“Today President Trump kept a promise that many before him failed at, he ended NAFTA and replaced it with a trade deal which will help rebuild the American economy.  American manufacturing will grow as U.S. auto jobs will dramatically expand due to the changed rules that President Trump negotiated and other changes in Mexico will encourage overall manufacturing investment in the United States meaning more high paying jobs.  Most importantly two of the unsung costs of NAFTA were the lack of intellectual property protections for U.S. inventors, USMCA corrects this issue, and in the past, Mexico was one of the biggest currency manipulators always making U.S.-made goods more expensive and Mexican made goods less so — USMCA ends this trade cheat.

“Combined Canada and Mexico are our nation’s largest trading partners. Today marks a new day in these relationships and it was only through President Trump’s leadership that it was achieved. Our nation’s economy will recover from the Chinese-originated virus and the President’s visionary new USMCA trade agreement will play a big role in that long-term, sustained growth.”

Why hasn’t the federal government blocked Chinese military-controlled companies from U.S. capital markets?

June 30, 2020, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement urging the Trump administration to block access by Chinese military-controlled companies to U.S. capital markets:

“The Pentagon’s announcement that there are twenty well-known Chinese companies who have embedded their businesses in the U.S. financial system while selling products to U.S. consumers who are controlled by the Chinese Communist Party and the People’s Liberation Army is not a shock.  What is a shock is that our government hasn’t taken immediate action to sever the access of these foreign spy operations to the U.S. capital markets at the very least.

“Many have heard the names of Huawei, China Telecommunications Group and China Railway Construction Corporation, but even a company with a benign name like Panda Electronics which sells earbuds and other consumer electronics over Amazon has a sinister side through their electronic surveillance business. Not only are they tied to assisting the North Korean government repress its people, but as a PLA agent, it is reasonable to assume that their creations are being used to repress and put down the freedom movement in Hong Kong.  And while Panda is traded on the Shanghai Stock Exchange and to date there are no restrictions on U.S. financial asset managers from investing American pension dollars into companies which are full-fledged enemies of freedom.

“As we watch the Chinese government’s ending of Hong Kong’s agreed upon quasi-independence on July 1, the very least the federal government can do is cut these cancerous 20 companies out of the U.S. financial systems, meaning ending the capitalization of repression by companies like BlackRock and other massive investment houses.  One thing that could be done immediately would be for the U.S. Department of Labor to issue an emergency guidance to private pension fund managers that these companies are not suitable for inclusion into any pension portfolio mandating divestment.  Why are they not suitable?  If the fact that these companies are dedicated to the destruction of the United States is not enough,  it is obvious that a company controlled by the Chinese Communist Party is not going to provide the transparency to allow a prudent investor to determine if it is secure enough to meet the standards for pension investing established by law.  The Labor Department could end all private U.S. pension investment in these twenty Chinese agents under a corporate cover with a simple one-page guidance update to pension managers.

“President Trump took meaningful action when he ended the push for U.S. federal employee and military pensions to be invested in Chinese companies seeking to build the weapons that are aimed at America, now the rest of the federal government needs to follow suit by ending private sector investments in these risky and dangerous entities.  China is not playing a game, and it is time for America to wake up to the threat.  On a personal level, the next time you go to Amazon to buy electronics or other goods, dig deeper to find out where they are made.  The best way to stop the Chinese regime which uses child and slave labor to make many of the products we buy, is to just say no when you see it is made in China.  Perhaps if Americans lead the way, our financial leaders will follow as their blood-soaked investments in China have a hard time finding buyers.”

Congress should rescind D.C. home rule

June 26, 2020, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Richard Manning today issued the following statement urging Congress to rescind home rule for Washington, D.C.:

“The government of the city of Washington, D.C. affirmed over the past two weeks why it should in no way become a state.  The District of Columbia is just that, a federal district.  It is constitutionally the seat of the federal government for a reason: to ensure that those who work for the government don’t influence the laws that directly impact them.

“Over the past weeks, the D.C. government has chosen to forget its place in the Constitution and has been very slow to bring its significant police presence to bear on insurgents determined to breach the White House, leaving the task to the Secret Service.  The District government effectively evicted National Guardsmen from Utah called into service to do the job the D.C. government refused to do, forcing these patriots to have to sleep on the streets of D.C. as if they were in Fallujah, rather than in a hotel in the nation’s capital.

“These experiences make it clear that Congress should rescind home rule in D.C., rather than extending statehood.  The ugly truth is the locally elected D.C. government has lost its legitimate right to govern over our nation’s capital, and a vote in the House of Representatives for statehood, effectively puts the interests of the federal government and the locality where it resides in direct conflict now and in the future.

“This is bad for the republic and bad for the people who choose to live in D.C. knowing full well the limitations that the choice entails.”

Obama-Biden directed Justice Department Flynn criminal investigation

June 25, 2020, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement reacting to the newly disclosed hand-written note by former FBI Peter Strzok from Jan. 2017 confirming key involvement in the investigation of former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn by former President Barack Obama and former Vice President Joe Biden:

“The newly revealed Strzok hand-written note confirms that former President Barack Obama and former Vice President Joe Biden were intimately involved in decisions made in early Jan. 2017 that eventually resulted in Michael Flynn being charged. This shouldn’t surprise anyone given the Obama White House’s close involvement with the tea party targeting by the IRS. This proves the left, which always says that the White House shouldn’t be involved with DOJ decision making, had no problem with Obama and Biden being involved with a top-level criminal investigation of the incoming Trump administration.

“If the same thing happened with Trump, the impeachment hearings would already be proceeding. Yet now we know that Obama was at the heart of investigating his political opponents, with the Logan Act being discussed in the Oval Office and Obama-Biden withholding information from the Trump transition team, and directing the FBI to continue investigating the now debunked Trump-Russia conspiracy theory.

“The Justice Department dropping the Flynn is a good first step but every DOJ employee who is found to have been a protagonist should be summarily canned and those who’ve already left should have their pensions challenged given the gross malfeasance uncovered that interrupted the peaceful transition of power in 2017.”

Trump-McConnell praised for 200th judicial confirmation

June 24, 2020, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement praising President Donald Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) for getting the 200th judge confirmed since Jan. 2017:

“President Trump has appointed and had confirmed 200 federal judges. To put this into perspective, there are only 870 federal judges on the bench, meaning the President has already impacted almost 23 percent of the federal judiciary.

“Why does this matter? You only have to look at today’s ruling from the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals to put a writ of mandamus on the Judge Emmet Sullivan who was seeking to continue the prosecution of Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn. The opinion overturning Judge Sullivan and demanding he allow the Justice Department to dismiss the charges against Flynn was written by Trump appointee Naomi Rao. Rao’s clear concise opinion that upholds the rule of law and the Constitution is a refreshing change from the out of control federal judiciary that we’ve become all too accustomed to. If you don’t think judges matter, ask Lt. Gen. Flynn. To him, they made all the difference in the world.

“Due to President Trump’s aggressive approach to finding and appointing constitutionally solid jurists, it is fair to say the federal judiciary has been changed for a generation. President Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell have done a great job of tag-teaming judicial nominations and deserve the thanks of those of us who believe in constitutional limited governance.”

President Trump’s visa executive order puts American workers first

June 22, 2020, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement praising President Donald Trump’s executive order to cut legal immigration into the U.S.:

“President Trump is putting Americans first with his memorandum cutting the number of legal immigrants into the country.  At a time when more than 20 million Americans are on the unemployment rolls, it is important to insure that opportunities generated by the U.S. economy go to those who have lost their jobs due to the Chinese-originated COVID-19 virus response.

“America is a very generous nation, and the President’s executive order will ensure that those who have high-end unique skill sets will still be able to contribute to our nation’s growth over the next six months. But this executive order should put an end to the days of companies like Disney replacing their American workers in their IT shops with cheaper, temporary foreign workers.  When Donald Trump ran for President, he campaigned against this abhorrent practice of forcing U.S. workers to train their foreign replacements with the threat of losing their pensions and unemployment benefits hanging over their heads.

“As our’s and the world’s economy resets, this is the perfect opportunity to reconfigure visa allocations to best reflect our nation’s needs, and President Trump’s actions today are projected to open up as many as 500,000 jobs for hard working, willing Americans.  The President campaigned as an America first president, and today’s announcement is just one more proof point that he is governing as an America first President.”

Bolton book lies are the ultimate betrayal

June 18, 2020, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement blasting former National Security Advisor John Bolton’s claim that President Trump asked Chinese President Xi Zinping to help out with the election during trade talks in Osaka:

“The release of excerpts from a book by fired National Security Advisor John Bolton reveals much more about Bolton than President Donald Trump.  As is always the case when money is to be made, Bolton makes claims about the President designed to titillate the ‘Orange Man Bad’ crowd.  One of the most scurrilous of the claims relates to an alleged conversation that the President had with Chinese President Xi asking for help with the election, which both U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and former White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney say never occurred.

“Lighthizer who was in the room for the meeting Bolton sites told the Senate Finance Committee that the allegation is, ‘Absolutely untrue, never happened. I was there, I have no recollection of that ever happening. I don’t believe it’s true, I don’t believe it ever happened,’ Lighthizer testified during a Senate Finance Committee hearing, concluding that Bolton’s allegation was ‘completely crazy.’

“America is at a crossroads.  China is engaged in a wholesale assault on our nation from attacking the dollar as the world reserve currency to infiltrating our nation’s university and laboratory system to stealing our intellectual property and coercing U.S. multinational corporations to become their political and legislative advocates, and it is an indictment on John Bolton’s character that in an environment where Marxists are burning our cities that he is seeking to destroy the only person standing in China’s way.  The fact that Bolton’s massive ego was hurt when the President fired him and the former National Security Advisor has been offered a small fortune for a book is no reason for him to effectively provide aid and comfort to the enemy out of spite.

“It is a shame that someone with a distinguished career like John Bolton would be so wrapped up in his own ego and shame over being fired that he would gaslight the President with clear lies. Sadly, the Bolton book writes the epitaph on his political tomb as, ‘turned his back on his country when America needed him most.’”

Justice Clarence Thomas is right, the Second Amendment to keep and bear arms is a fundamental right and needs to be protected

June 16, 2020, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement praising Justice Clarence Thomas for criticizing the Supreme Court for not taking any cases to defend the Second Amendment:

“Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is correct in expressing his concern that the Supreme Court of the United States is treating the Second Amendment individual right to keep and bear arms as a redheaded step-child of the Bill of Rights. Americans from all walks of life have observed and in some cases experienced in real-time the pressing need to be able to own and carry firearms in the past few weeks, yet the Supreme Court continues to allow its two established precedents in the Heller and MacDonald decisions to effectively be trampled by lower courts and states which thumb their noses at both the Supreme Court and the United States Constitution through egregious violations of the rights of law-abiding citizens.

“It is the Supreme Court’s job to protect citizen’s rights, yet while the Court has proven itself willing to rewrite statutes related to workplace discrimination based upon sex that Congress has expressly refused to change, they, once again are unwilling to protect the rights of Americans that are plainly written into the Bill of Rights and which they have previously affirmed.  One of the great frustrations many Americans have with the federal courts including the Supreme Court, is that left-wing jurists go to any length in attempts to thwart the will of the people when it comes to immigration and other important security topics, but when it comes to the Second Amendment, a presumably textual driven Supreme Court is flaccid while the left abuses the rights of citizens.

“The failure of the Supreme Court to take up and address fundamental freedom issues combined with previous contortions to uphold Obamacare and other Constitutionally dubious government overreaches brings into question whether fighting massive political wars over who sits on the federal bench is worth the time, energy and effort.”
