ALG praises defense of sequestration

Oct. 12, 2012, Fairfax, VA—Americans for Limited Government President Bill Wilson today praised Rep. Jim Jordan’s defense of sequestration on C-Span on Sunday, when he said “the only thing that’s worse than cutting national defense is not having any scheduled cuts at all take place”:

“A bipartisan effort to repeal sequestration is underway, proving the difficulty that members of both parties in Congress have in restoring order to our nation’s fiscal house. We need more leaders like Jim Jordan, who are actually willing to cut the budget on a net basis, and are not afraid to buck the establishment in Washington, D.C.

“Jordan has been a consistent voice in favor of cutting spending now before it is too late. With the $16 trillion debt already larger than the entire economy set to rise to $26 trillion by 2022, we are approaching a point where the debt will become so large it cannot possibly be serviced, let alone repaid. Jordan is one of the only representatives in Congress exhibiting any leadership on this issue.

“Under sequestration, the overall budget would face a $62 billion cut in 2013, it is true, but that is just a 1.6 percent reduction in a single year. Every year after that spending will increase: by $152 billion in 2014, or 4.1 percent, by $214 billion in 2015, or 5.6 percent, and so forth.

“If weak politicians in Washington, D.C. cannot fathom a less-than-2 percent cut to the budget in just one year, how do they ever intend to balance the budget? This is the first small test of whether Congress is serious when they talk about restoring fiscal order.”

Unemployment rate contradicted by job growth report

Oct. 5, 2012, Fairfax, VA—Americans for Limited Government issued the following statement in response to the now 7.8 percent unemployment rate:

Today’s unemployment report met the political threshold set by Obama of being below 8 percent.

To reach this threshold, the Labor Department’s Bureau of Labor Statistics found that an astounding 873,000 people found full-time jobs last month.  This finding contradicts virtually every other economic indicator including those used by the Federal Reserve to take the immediate and unprecedented step to embark on the Quantitative Easing 3, which entails pumping $40 billion of new dollars into the economy every month for the foreseeable future.

Additional evidence that the data used to determine the unemployment rate is not valid can be found in the Bureau of Labor Statistics report on the number of actual jobs created.  This report shows only 114,000 jobs created including an increase of 10,000 government workers.

Either the Federal Reserve, which has its fingers on the pulse of every element of the economy, and the Bureau of Labor Statistics manufacturing survey report are grievously wrong or the number used to calculate the unemployment rate are wrong, or worse manipulated. Given that these numbers conveniently meet Obama’s campaign promises one month before the election, the conclusions are obvious.

“It appears that Obama has hired infamous Iraqi Information Minister Baghdad Bob to calculate the unemployment rate.  Anyone who takes this unemployment report serious is either naïve or a paid Obama campaign adviser,” says Americans for Limited Government Communications Director Rick Manning, also former Public Affairs Chief of Staff at the U.S. Department of Labor.

Lie detector voice analysis inconclusive

Oct. 4, 2012, Fairfax, VA—Americans for Limited Government released the following statement regarding the lie detector voice analysis tests of the presidential debate:

“The lie detector voice analysis tests of the presidential debate were found to be inconclusive by Voice Analysis Technology. The technology can detect a deception if the person knows they are deceiving, but if they believe what they are saying is true, even if it is not, it is not picked up. We are engaging in further review of these reports.”

Americans for Limited Government puts tonight’s debate on a lie detector

New high tech law enforcement technology applied to Obama and Romney

Oct. 3, 2012, Fairfax, VA— A new truth detecting technology will be employed by Americans for Limited Government while watching the debate between Republican nominee Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama.

Voice analysis measures the voice patterns of individuals and determines whether the speaker is telling the truth or not.  It also measures the level of stress the person is under, as well as their level of concentration.

Bill Wilson, president of Americans for Limited Government called the use of the technology “a break-through for the American people.  For the first time, within a few hours of a political debate, the American people will know if the candidates are telling the truth, and better be able to judge what promises are real, and which ones are nothing more than political pandering.”

The company behind the verbal truth teller is Voice Analysis Technology, and they have been hired in many high profile criminal cases including the search for the killer of Natalie Holloway, the teenager who was killed while on a student trip in Aruba.  Recently, the company showed that one of former Republican presidential contender Herman Cain’s primary accusers was not being truthful when making her charges.

The U.S. Department of Defense, Bureau of Prisons, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and more than sixty other law enforcement agencies across the U.S. all have contracted with Voice Analysis Technology to help them successfully interrogate suspects.

Unlike a traditional polygraph which requires a suspect’s cooperation, and places numerous probes on the person’s body, voice analysis literally takes the words right out of a person’s mouth and based upon variations in speech patterns determines if statements being made are true or not with a high degree of accuracy.  With words like inaccurate, person uncertain, false statement, highly stressed and truth, the user’s computer screen literally explodes with data related to the veracity of the subject’s assertions.

“The near real time analysis that Americans for Limited Government will be able to provide the public on the veracity of the statements made in the debate is a game changer in how people relate to politicians.  The operating assumption by the general public is that if a politician’s mouth is moving, he or she must be lying, by putting Obama and Romney to the test, we will find out if this is true,” Bill Wilson concluded.

It is anticipated that an analysis of the debate will be released within three hours of its completion, providing the overnight shifts in news rooms across the country plenty to write about.

ALG praises Sen. Graham for denouncing Obama lawlessness

Oct. 2, 2012, Fairfax, VA—Americans for Limited Government President Bill Wilson today praised South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham, who denounced an Obama Administration move to reimburse the legal fees of defense contractors that do not follow federal requirements to give 60 days notice to employees of layoffs.

The layoffs are set to occur for contractors expecting cuts in the sequester budget Congress adopted last year. The notices would have been issued just days before the Nov. 6 election, an outcome thought to be politically damaging to Obama.

“I will do everything in my power to make sure not one taxpayer dollar is spent reimbursing companies for failure to comply with WARN Act,” Graham said in an exclusive interview with The Hill. “That is so beyond the pale — I think it’s patently illegal.”

Already, Lockheed Martin, BAE Systems and other contractors have cancelled plans to notify employees of impending layoffs thanks to the Obama promise to reimburse legal fees derived from failure to follow the law.

Said Wilson, “Senator Graham deserves the thanks and praise of all right-thinking Americans. This is the correct course. Every U.S. senator regardless of party should follow Senator Graham’s lead. The Obama White House is openly violating the law and encouraging others to do the same. It is now fully a criminal enterprise.”

Wilson urged House Appropriations Chairman Hal Rogers to block any monies from reimbursing defense contractors for violating the WARN Act. “Chairman Rogers needs to declare that not one penny will be allowed to be spent on covering up the illegal activity,” Wilson said.

“If Obama wants to shut down the government just so he can pay off the trial lawyers and those convinced to break the law, that will be up to him but Republicans in Congress must not become accomplices after the fact,” Wilson concluded.

Fiscal year ends with another $1.2 trillion of debt

Oct. 1, 2012, Fairfax, VA—Americans for Limited Government President Bill Wilson today issued the following statement in response to the end of Fiscal Year 2012 on Sept. 30:

“Since Barack Obama has taken office, the national debt has increased by $5.3 trillion, including $1.2 trillion in the past fiscal year alone, to today’s gargantuan $16 trillion total. Never before has the debt increased so much in a single term of office, and now the American people must decide who it is they trust to rein it in before we are consumed in a European-like crisis wherein the debt can no longer be funded through honest means.

“Already the only way we can refinance and expand the debt is with a printing press, meaning the debt is growing so fast and so large that creditors cannot even keep up with it all. By using the central bank to paper over the debt, Obama is sending very misleading signals to markets and to politicians that money is very cheap and that sovereign debt need not ever be repaid—that it is somehow risk-free. In the meantime, the risk of a national default is mounting and Washington, D.C., has done nothing to avert catastrophe.”

Economy continues to falter as 2nd Quarter GDP revised downward to 1.3%

Sept. 27, 2012, Fairfax, VA—Americans for Limited Government President Bill Wilson reacted to the news that the nation’s Gross Domestic Product was revised downward to 1.3 percent by the government’s Commerce Department.

“This significant, .4 percent final revision of the 2nd quarter Gross Domestic Product measurement calls into question whether we are seeing more data manipulation by this Administration.  Going into the political conventions in August, this same Commerce Department produced a picture of a slightly better economy putting growth at 1.7 percent.  Now, after the conventions are over and the media is more interested in polling than facts, it turns out that Obama’s Commerce Department was wrong and the economy actually shrunk significantly to a meager 1.3 percent growth rate and shrinking.

“There were unspoken suspicions of data manipulation last month in light of other economic reports that pointed to slower growth, and this month’s final GDP numbers confirm that at best, Obama’s Commerce Department gave a mistaken view of the state of the economy and at worse, a politically skewed one.

“In either case, today’s final 2nd Quarter GDP report shows that the Obama economy continues to weaken, which is terrible news for all those who were hoping to enter the holiday season with a new job and renewed hope.”

Obama won’t deal with Social Security

Sept. 24, 2012, Fairfax, VA—Americans for Limited Government President Bill Wilson today issued the following statement responding to Obama strategist David Axelrod’s refusal to “have [a] discussion right now” about Social Security because “Social Security is a more distant problem”:

“It truly is pathetic that David Axelrod, the chief strategist for Team Obama, admits they have no plan to proactively work toward fixing any entitlement program like Social Security until the program reaches a crisis level. This is not the kind of leadership that America expects from their president, but is revealing about the central tenet of the Obama Administration. Bounce between crisis to crisis reacting with big government ‘solutions’ rather than anticipating problems and working to deal with them before we hit the brink of a government shutdown, default on our debts or even failing to meet obligations to seniors and pensioners.

“Adults don’t act this way, Obama’s term in office has proven that he neither has the vision or courage of an adult leading our nation, but rather Obama’s term is more like a petulant child who is always pointing his finger at others. Our nation faces a world of nearly unprecedented financial and international peril; it is time for the adults to take over.”

ALG’s Wilson responds to Romney video

Sept. 18, 2012, Fairfax, VA—In light of the release of a video of Mitt Romney at a May 17 fundraiser in Boca Raton, Florida fundraiser, which has fueled a national debate over welfare state dependency, Americans for Limited Government President Bill Wilson today released a commentary in response to the controversy, calling it a “discussion worth having.”

Excerpts:

“Romney is telling the truth about the state of dependency in the U.S., and is calling attention to the perverse incentives politically that are created when government assistance becomes a way of life for millions of Americans.”

“Romney is explaining a basic economic truth: that the more dependent an individual becomes on government welfare, the less likely he or she is to be able to advance in society and improve his or her standard of living. This is a very stark contrast, and it is worth expounding upon.”

“This video may, in the end, be a blessing in disguise for Romney. But only if he quickly takes advantage of the opportunity it has created for him to explain why government dependency is destroying America.”

House readies for battle against Obama’s war on coal

Sept. 17, 2012, Fairfax, VA—Americans for Limited Government President Bill Wilson expressed the need today to pass current legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives that throws a wrench in this administration’s war on coal.

The Stop the War on Coal Act (H.R. 3409) includes various provisions prohibiting the EPA and the Obama administration from continuing its war on coal.  Bipartisan support of the Energy Tax Prevention Act, the Transparency in Regulatory Analysis of Impacts on the Nation (TRAIN) Act, and the Coal Residuals Reuse and Management Act will save countless jobs and keep energy prices down for American families and businesses.

“Just looking at the EPA’s mercury emission regulations alone—which require power plants to be retrofitted with new technologies—costs billions of dollars to implement,” says Bill Wilson, president of ALG.  “However due to the prohibitively high cost of this new technology, many older coal-fired plants are being shut down, ending countless Americans jobs for those who depend on coal for their livelihoods.

“Taking into account the great loss of Americans jobs as well as the source of nearly 50 percent of the country’s electric energy, the costs of cutting coal production far outweigh any alleged benefits,” Wilson continues.

“If our hope is to bring America out of this recession in one piece then affordable energy is a must.  The House must pass this legislation and begin the arduous task of reining in the out-of-control EPA.”
