Oct. 7, 2020, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement reacting to tonight’s Vice Presidential debate between Vice President Mike Pence and Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.):

“Tonight’s debate between Vice President Pence and Senator Harris was a direct contrast between conservative Midwestern values and San Francisco, California values. Pence’s steady, low-key leadership is the perfect balance for President Trump as he leads America on his bold agenda. Senator Harris’ main distinctions were being named the most liberal senator in a Senate that includes socialist Bernie Sanders and attacking Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh in what was nothing more than a #MeToo witch hunt.

“Once again Senator Kamala Harris joined Joe Biden in refusing to pledge to not pack the Supreme Court eliminating the independence of the judiciary.  Once again, Senator Kamala Harris tried to have it both ways when she said that they would end the Trump tax cut which cut taxes for middle class Americans by $2,000 on average, while denying that their policy is a tax hike on the middle class.  And finally, she and former Vice President Biden want to tell the public that they won’t destroy America’s energy independence through imposing the Green New Deal which Harris eagerly co-sponsored, yet their website still says that the Green New Deal underpins their climate policy which is endorsed by Green New Deal authors Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders.

“America has been given a choice of competing visions for the future. Vice President Pence represents the hope of freedom and opportunity in line with the DNA of America. California Senator Harris represents the failed Marxist philosophy that impoverishes and enslaves people wherever it is tried in the world.  Mike Pence represents the solid middle American values that have made America great, and Harris promises to impose San Francisco values on the rest of America.  The choice is clear.”

Fairfax, Va. – Rick Manning, president of Americans for Limited Government, issued the following statement in reaction to the Labor and Homeland Security Departments’ joint announcement of interim final new rules to the H1b visa programs.

“I applaud the Trump administration for once again taking action to restore American jobs destroyed by Joe Biden’s failed policies. The administration is moving forward with reforms the H1b visa program that will protect our nation’s workers from insourcing cheap labor in violation of the law’s intent.

“Over the years, the program became little more than a way for multi-nationals to import cheap foreign labor displacing highly skilled U.S. employees

“President Trump promised to protect Americans who were losing their jobs to low-cost foreign labor through the H1b visa program.  During the Obama/Biden years, it became an all too familiar story of IT staffs at places like Disney and Southern California Edison being laid off en masse to accommodate the employment of foreign workers. Requirements that they train their replacements under threat of losing job loss payments was like putting salt in a wound.

“Today, the Trump administration is moving forward with much needed reforms that will end this abuse of the system and protect our nation’s workers from insourcing cheap labor in violation of the law’s intent.”

Hiding in basement more dangerous for many

Oct. 6, 2020, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement reacting to President Trump’s ongoing Covid recovery at the White House:

“President Donald Trump’s return to the White House provides Americans hope that Covid is not a death sentence, with mortality down per capita since the spring. This does not mean that people in high risk categories should spend the next three months going to every party they can find. What it does mean is that individuals should behave according to their own risk tolerance with full knowledge that the likelihood of dying from the virus has been significantly declining given advances in effective treatments.

“Two things can be drawn from this fact: President Trump’s policy of flattening the curve so treatments and capacity could catch up to virus worked; and that the President’s ability to come back from the disease in a very public way should provide assurance to the American people that they can begin resuming life because lockdowns are not sustainable. The sad truth is that for people with depression and drug and alchol addiction, lockdowns are far more dangerous than the Covid virus ever will be. In short, hiding in your basement for many is much more dangerous than the virus will ever be.”

It is fitting President Trump has been leading the fight for flattening the curve, ensuring that hospital space, ventilators and testing have been made available to anyone who needs them, and his progress is Exhibit A of the successful effort to significantly reduce the Covid death rate.

“Obviously every life lost is a tragedy but without President Trump’s determination in expediting treatments and future vaccines, the only hope would be self-incarceration. In April, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo famously exclaimed that Covid ‘is death’ as his policies to intermingle Covid patients with the most vulnerable populations led to that horrific result. Today, President Trump proves that Covid is being defeated and the American people no longer have to live in abject fear for their own lives.”

Presidents can’t hide in their basement

Oct. 5, 2020, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement in response to President Donald Trump greeting supporters outside of Walter Reed Medical Center from the safety of his limousine:

“The President made exactly the right choice when he left Walter Reed Medical Center to ride in an enclosed limousine so the public and the press could see him undaunted by the virus. By doing this, he ensured the world that the President of the United States was fully engaged in leading the country. With irresponsible rumors that the President’s health was much worse than reality, it was essential for the country to know the truth about his status.

“This simple drive sent a message to China, Iran and others that the President is full in control and threatening our allies will not be tolerated. Additionally, the financial markets are now reassured that there is no crisis in the executive branch. Sometimes being President means acting like the leader of the free world, rather than hiding in one’s basement. President Trump showed how a leader who understands the role of the President acts, while his opponent, Biden, continues to cower in fear of the Covid virus.”

Oct. 2, 2020, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement on the latest jobs numbers and urging Congress to conclude its negotiations on phase four legislation:

“America is in one the midst of one of the most rapid economic recoveries in history, with 14.1 million jobs recovered since April, and it is in large part thanks to the leadership of President Trump in pushing Congress to act early in the pandemic to shore up the economy. But there is still a lot more to do.

“As of August, 7.6 million additional Americans found themselves unemployed year-over-year as a result of the state-led Covid lockdowns, 5.1 million of whom live in states with Democratic governors. In other words, more than two-thirds of the jobs left to be recovered are in Blue States, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s failure to come to a deal sooner looms large. She is punishing her own people and holding them hostage to extract more out of the negotiations. Small business funding ran out on Aug. 8. Critical industry funding including airlines just ran out now, and massive layoffs are ensuing.

“Now with today’s jobs numbers, while positive in the establishment survey with 661,000 jobs recovered, is concerning on the household side with 879,000 Americans leaving the labor force altogether. Those are Americans who predominantly live Democratic-run states and for who there is no recovery, and there will not be one for some time if the recovery stalls. We still have a way’s to go to get back all the jobs lost.

“Senate Republicans have had legislation for months that would extend the unemployment, small business and critical industry funding programs and shore up the miraculous recovery seen the past five months, with 14.1 million jobs recovered in the household survey. Ironically, the Senate plan disproportionately helps Blue States since that is where the businesses are shut down and employees remain stranded due to Democrat Governor shutdowns. Since both the White House, Senate and House of Representatives already are largely in agreement on extending unemployment along with small business and critical industry funding programs, Congress should get these items done now. Anything left over can be the subject of the election debate.”

“The Communist Chinese government affirmatively decided to export the Chinese virus to the world through their lying about the transmission of the virus and continuing international flights from Wuhan while ending domestic flights from the region where the virus originated. They have proven that they are among the most despicable leaders on the face of the Earth and enemy number one for the United States in the world. As if forced organ harvesting, child- and slave-labor, millions in concentration camps, and a social credit score system which denies work and travel to those who don’t toe the communist line is not enough, now they are attacking President Trump as he and his family deal with the effects of the disease they unleashed. It adds insult to injury.

“It is not surprising that the Communist government with its strong ties to both Joe Biden (through his son) and Kamala Harris (through her husband) is involving itself into U.S. electoral politics. What is mildly surprising is that American media has so readily ignored these dangerous connections.  Their current see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil stance when it comes to real penetration into the highest levels of our political system is unacceptable and complicit.
