The Iranian regime knows with absolute certainty now that when this President says he won’t allow a nuclear Iran that he means it, and the world is safer today than it was a week ago.”

“Iranian general Qassem Soleimani was on Iraq soil when he was targeted by U.S. forces, well within the President’s congressionally approved power to conduct the war in Iraq and his Article II constitutional authority to protect U.S. forces. Additionally, Solemni had been declared the leader of a terrorist organization carrying out attacks against U.S. interests in Iraq and around the world. The President acted well within the scope of law to authorize this action, and should be receiving universal praise rather than approbation by those too fearful to lead.”

Jan. 2, 2020, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement in response to AT&T abuse of the H-1B program:

“AT&T enriches itself on public spectrum, and yet they’re going after American tech workers by forcing them to train their H-1B replacements. This is unacceptable. The H-1B program is completely broken and must be disbanded, as it is not addressing shortages in job markets, it is supplanting qualified Americans. It is particularly ironic that AT&T is engaged in this blatant abuse of American workers while they are dependent on publicly owned spectrum in order to build their 5G network. If any company should be a good corporate citizen it is AT&T and yet this is just one example of the failure of that entity to act responsibly. The FCC should investigate whether AT&T is meeting their responsibilities under the recent AT&T-Time Warner merger and should be blocked from additional spectrum purchases based on their egregious abuse of immigration laws.”

Jan. 2, 2020, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement blasting the House for attempting to delay the Senate trial of President Donald Trump:

“It has been two weeks since the Democrats in the House of Representatives chose to vote for impeachment of President Donald Trump.  Subsequently, they have spent their time threatening to not present their ‘case’ to the Senate because of disputes with the Executive Branch over whether Congress can compel testimony of high ranking officials.  While they and Senator Chuck Schumer have been complaining it is important to note what they haven’t done – actually file suit in federal court challenging the White House assertions of executive privilege. In fact, prior to the impeachment vote, the House chose not to pursue legal avenues when former National Security Advisor John Bolton asked the federal court to decide whether he should comply with the executive branch’s privilege claim or a House subpoena. The simple fact is that the current whining about not being able to call the President’s Chief of Staff or his former National Security Advisor are nothing but a smokescreen designed to create agreement that the President will not be allowed to call witnesses like the former Vice President, his son, Rep. Adam Schiff and the leaker who started the Ukraine farce.

“The President needs to be able to present his case to the Senate. If the House wanted to be taken seriously about their need for other witnesses, they should have gone to court and fought that out prior to voting for impeachment.  Clearly, they think they have a case to be made, the Senate needs to force them to make it, so the country can move on from this charade.”

“The stock market continued its climb to new record highs in the aftermath of the House impeachment of President Trump. It is clear that investors are dismissing the House-manufactured crisis as a big, fat nothingburger. Normally, we would not even pay any attention to day-to-day stock markets as they have little economic predictive value. However, when Wall Street yawns at an impeachment vote between submitting buy orders, it is instructive about the general disregard for the House’s frantic attempt to politically wound the President. Speaker Pelosi’s best hope is that Congress breaks for Christmas and the American people forget her party’s collective political pout. Maybe this explains why Pelosi is not sending the Articles of Impeachment to the adults in the Senate where she will summarily embarrassed.”

We must rise to the occasion. There is only one outcome that is suited to the paucity of evidence, the failed inquiry, the slapdash case. Only one outcome suited to the fact that the accusations themselves are constitutionally incoherent. Only one outcome that will preserve core precedents rather than smash them into bits in a fit of partisan rage because one party still cannot accept the American people’s choice in 2016. It could not be clearer which outcome would serve the stabilizing, institution-preserving, fever-breaking role for which the United States Senate was created… and which outcome would betray it. The Senate’s duty is clear. The Senate’s duty is clear. When the time comes, we must fulfill it”:

“The partisan, predetermined House impeachment of President Donald Trump puts an indelible stain on this hyper-politicized House of Representatives. The inherent unfairness of a process that continually denied the President of the United States the opportunity to counter manufactured concerns that resulted in chargeless and baseless Articles of Impeachment should be dealt with in an expeditious manner in the Senate. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell must make certain that the President has every opportunity to make the case that he was denied by Democrats in the House, and restore fairness to this process. It is sad that the House abused their power so grotesquely in these proceedings but more importantly, it is destructive to our nation as a whole. The trivialization of impeachment by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the House will be mocked throughout history and I share Senator McConnell’s outrage over the diminution of the somber constitutional power of impeachment.”

“The latest big lie being told by the Democrats is that Senators are jurors, they are not.  In the Clinton impeachment in 1999, Chief Justice Rehnquist ruled that Senators are not jurors, stating, ‘the Senate is not simply a jury, it is a court in this case.’  Senators are Constitutional officers sworn to uphold the Constitution and that is their duty. Senators ask questions and are actively engaged in the process on the Senate floor. Their duty is to be active rather than passive listeners and Republican Senators should not be cowed into silence by the false narrative that they are jurors, it is a lie.”

“House Democrats have pursued a false narrative that President Trump abused his office for personal political advantage when in fact he was both pursuing the law and the interests of the United States in seeking to ensure that Ukraine dealt with its long history of corruption when considering military funding for Ukraine. As Trump noted in his letter to Speaker Pelosi, ‘It is time for you and the highly partisan Democrats in Congress to immediately cease this impeachment fantasy and get back to work for the American People.’

“It is clear that Pelosi and Schiff’s partisan impeachment push is nothing more than a politically motivated effort by Democrats to abuse their own positions of authority for perceived personal political benefit. While this irony might be lost on Pelosi, Schiff and Nadler, it is not lost on the American people, who expect in the least for a crime to be cited in any impeachment, which Democrats have failed to do her. It is time for Speaker Pelosi to end this partisan impeachment travesty before she does any more damage to our nation’s standing in the world and the Constitution. The damage that this historical precedent created by a partisan impeachment without any crimes does to future presidents is incalculable, and Speaker Pelosi should heed President Trump’s call for her to cease and desist from pursuing this tragic blunder before it tarnishes her legacy forever.”
