2.7 million Americans leave unemployment in a month, could signal strong jobs report tomorrow

Sept. 3, 2020, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement noting the number of unadjusted continued unemployment claims has dropped from 15.8 million on July 25 down to 13.1 million on Aug. 22 as 2.7 million Americans left unemployment a month, according to the Department of Labor:

“The Trump administration delivered more great news for people who want to work as the unemployment claims report shows that another unadjusted 2.7 million Americans have come off of continued unemployment between July 25 and Aug. 22 from the depths of the Chinese COVID virus crash. That will surely build on the between 9 million and 10 million jobs that have been recovered in the three months since our economy began to reopen after April. Tomorrow’s unemployment could be another huge gain for the American people in terms of dropping the unemployment rate, recovering jobs and bringing more people back into the work force, thanks to President Trump’s leadership to reopen the economy and as COVID cases continue to stabilize.”
