Trump’s American energy dominance signals bright future

June 29, 2017, Fairfax, Va.–Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement praising President Donald Trump’s call for “American energy dominance” in a speech today at the Department of Energy:

“President Trump is taking the lead on restoring America as an energy powerhouse in the world, by ending the war on the coal, leaving the ill-considered Paris accord, removing regulatory impediments to extracting energy resources including opening up federal lands, building the Keystone and Dakota Access pipelines, among many other measures. Simply by changing America’s energy goal from merely being independent to being dominant tells the world that America’s back, capitalism works and free markets are the path to economic vibrancy. While other nations choose the path of economic suicide, Trump’s America will be moving forward growing and leading the world to a better, more prosperous future. President Trump is right, America is in the driver’s seat.”

Diane Black fights for $50 billion of real budget cuts to offset defense spending increase

June 28, 2017, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement urging House Budget Committee Chairwoman Rep. Diane Black (R-Tenn.) to continue to fight for $50 billion of spending cuts to non-defense spending in the House budget that are designed to offset the $50 billion of increased defense spending:

“For the first time in a generation, the American people have a president who has submitted a budget that will simultaneously rebuild our aging military hardware including the Navy and at the same time restore fiscal sanity to non-defense spending. In his budget, the President proposed an historic $4.5 trillion of real spending cuts off the baseline over the next decade.

“Now, House Budget Committee Chairwoman Diane Black is proposing a budget that should make President Trump smile, proposing $50 billion of spending cuts to non-defense spending to offset the $50 billion increase of defense spending. Black is fighting to keep those cuts in the budget and now she needs the support of the American people who voted for President Trump and GOP majorities in the House and Senate. Republicans cannot continue to campaign as the party of fiscal responsibility if when they have the power of the majority, they crush proposals to cut spending. We have to get the nation’s $20 trillion debt under control, and Congress’ part in that is to clamp down on spending. The House’s constitutional role is to set the stage for the nation’s spending priorities. Chairwoman Black’s budget is doing what Congress is supposed to do, which is to set priorities and make choices.

“The only amendments that should be accepted to Chairwoman Black’s budget are additional deficit-reducing cuts.”

ALG praises President Trump and EPA for proposing rescinding Waters of the U.S. rule

June 27, 2017, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement praising the Trump administration for proposing rescinding the Waters of the United States rule:

“The Trump administration is to be praised for proposing to do away with a rule that regulates all waters of the United States under the terms of the Clean Water Act, something that was never intended by the statute. Thankfully, we have a president determined to protect all Americans from a regulatory regime so severe it thought it could claim dominion over every puddle in the country, threatening property rights and the viability of U.S. agriculture.”

Trump vindicated on travel ban, Supreme Court allows executive order it take effect in most instances

June 26, 2017, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement praising the Supreme Court for lifting the injunctions that had been issued against President Donald Trump’s temporary travel restrictions on the vast majority of potential immigrants and refugees from six countries “who lack any bona fide relationship with a person or entity in the United States”:

“We praise the Court for sticking to the actual four corners of the executive order by allowing the vast majority of the temporary travel ban to go back into effect. This is a return to the rule of law, where the Supreme Court for now has refused to affirm lower court rulings that were not based on the actual laws and policies in question, but instead on political campaign rhetoric with no bearing on the actual case. For now, this is a huge victory not only for the Trump administration, but for the constitutional separation of powers.”

Conservative groups respond to Governor Christie’s $200 million pork barrel spending budget giveaway

June 23, 2017, Fairfax, Va.—In the following featured joint statement, Rick Manning, President of Americans for Limited Government, Jenny Beth Martin, President & Co-Founder of Tea Party Patriots and Colin Hanna, President of Let Freedom Ring USA, Inc. respond to New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s acceding to $200 million of Democrat spending proposals in the New Jersey budget:

“Governor Chris Christie has sold his political soul. After a failed extortion attempt to get Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey to fork over $300 million from their reserves to pay for his political pet projects, he has now capitulated to the pork barrel budget spending wishes of Democrats to get his hands on Horizon’s money. It is the 11th hour and he is desperate.

“Christie doesn’t care one ounce that his reckless healthcare money grab will saddle millions of New Jersey taxpayers and patients with more taxes, less healthcare and exorbitant legal defense bills for years, should his plan succeed. The Governor has stood watch over 11 state credit downgrades and now he is asking the public to bail him out and secure his legacy. For the tough talking, fiscally conservative Christie, we now know what we suspected all along. It was all an act.”

Patrick Pizzella a strong conservative at Deputy Secretary of Labor

June 22, 2017, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement praising President Donald Trump for nominating Patrick Pizzella to be Deputy Secretary of Labor:

“Patrick Pizzella is a strong conservative who spent eight years in a top position at the Labor Department in George W. Bush administration and is a great, well-qualifed choice at this position. Pizzella understands the big issues that have engulfed the Labor Department where Obama administration policies have harmed the capacity of American businesses to create jobs. Additionally, Pizzella will stand up for those workers represented by organized labor in the private sector by pushing transparency regulations ensuring that union members know every aspect of union spending.”

Coons-Cotton patent reform bill long overdue

June 21, 2017, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement urging members of the U.S. Senate to cosponsor legislation by Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.) and Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), the STRONGER Patent Act:

“Protecting intellectual property is a cornerstone of American exceptionalism, as evidenced by the inclusion of patent rights in Article I of the Constitution.  This has allowed us to lead the world in innovation, but changes in recent years have weakened those protections and the US has begun to lose its place as the innovation capital of the world. Sens. Coons and Cotton have introduced legislation that begins to lay out the framework to restore America as the best place in the world to protect intellectual property.

“Through changes, such as reforming the Patent Trial and Appeal Board process, which is stacked against patent owners, and ending the diversion of patent fees, this bill will boost U.S. competitiveness and strengthen property rights protections for innovators. These reforms are long overdue and deserve the support of those who want to advance economic growth and prosperity.”

Georgia Congressional race a wake-up call for GOP

June 20, 2017, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement in reaction to the results in the Georgia Congressional District 6 race:

“The Georgia Congressional race should serve as a wake-up call for the GOP in Washington, D.C. to get to work on President Trump’s agenda. The Ryan-McConnell rope a dope strategy where they spend more time on vacation than doing the people’s business will lead to catastrophic results in November of 2018. Speaker Ryan should immediately cancel the August recess and move aggressively forward on the President’s agenda with an emphasis on economic growth measures, including laying the groundwork for tax cuts, turning the President’s infrastructure plan into legislation and sending it to the Senate, and cutting the budget in accordance with the Trump budget.

“The House of Representatives is not saddled with the filibuster and the GOP Conference needs to be aggressive in passing limited government legislation across Capitol Hill to the Senate. “

ALG praises Trump’s new Cuba policy

June 16, 2017, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning issued the following statement praising President Trump on his roll back of Obama’s bad deals benefiting Cuba’s corrupt regime:

“The Obama Administration rewarded the most grotesque human rights violators in the world with economic aid to keep their murderous dictatorships alive. Today, President Trump reversed one of those atrocious decisions by rolling back economic aid to the dictator in Cuba.

“The decision to stop rewarding the communist dictator has reaffirmed the United States position as a global leader in the pursuit of individual liberty for all. By refusing to fund a government that continues to jail and torture political dissidents, President Trump sent the clear message that the U.S. does not only spread wealth, it also spread the values of our country; individual liberty, justice, and democracy.

“Obama’s attempt to detach economic improvement from basic human rights tarnished our country’s position as a moral beacon for the world. By his actions today, President Trump has reestablished America’s position as the defenders of people oppressed by government, and as a worldwide defender of American values. People who care about freedom around the world should praise President Trump for standing tall on behalf of liberty for those suffering from tyrannical government.”

Statement on U.S. Sugar Deal with Mexico

June 16, 2017, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement about the sugar deal struck between the United States and Mexico:

“President Donald Trump has truly changed the way America does business with the world. His strong Commerce Department negotiating team, led by Secretary Wilbur Ross, has negotiated a tough enforceable sanction against Mexico, due to their long-time sugar dumping policies. The rule of law, including enforcement of treaties, only matters if they are strictly enforced. The days of turning a blind eye towards those who harm American workers and industry by violating trade rules are over. Elections matter and Donald Trump’s election as President is bit by bit restoring America’s leadership in the world.”
