Romney’s Trump envy disappoints Utah

Feb. 5, 2020, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement blasting Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) for announcing he would vote to convict President Donald Trump:

“Mitt Romney has proven that his venal nature and envy over President Trump’s election has overcome any rational judgment when it comes to impeachment. Romney’s vote to convict reveals much more about his lack of character than it does about President Trump. While this is not surprising, it is disappointing in that prior to the 17th Amendment, the legislature of the state of Utah would have been able to immediately remove him from representing their state.”

Iowa Caucus chaos incompetence, or manipulation?

Feb. 4, 2020, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement on the Iowa Democratic Party’s failure to report results from the Iowa Caucus:

“The same Democrats who want to run our nation’s health care system cannot manage to even count a few votes in Iowa. It is clear that the Iowa Democratic Party either is beyond incompetent or is corruptly attempting to put their thumbs on the scale to deny Bernie Sanders momentum and prop up the failing Joe Biden campaign. The real tragedy is that the Iowa Caucus is likely to become a thing of the past due this recent history of manipulating and misreporting. The shame of it is national candidates benefit from meeting farmers and spending time in middle America and Democratic candidates particularly benefit as they get off their coasts and visit what they view as flyover America once every four years.

“The big winner of the Iowa Caucus was not Bernie Sanders, it was President Donald Trump who has demonstrated the past three years that he can lead this nation to prosperity and restore our standing around the world, while his Democratic opponents cannot even be trusted to perform a simple task with telephone technology.”

Time for the Senate to end Democrat impeachment nightmare

Jan. 31, 2020, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement urging to Senate to acquit President Donald Trump of all charges:

“The Senate should end Adam Schiff’s partisan impeachment fantasy tonight.  The Democrat majority in the House of Representatives has embarrassed themselves and have been exposed for their craven effort to politically weaponize the once somber impeachment process.

“For those still clinging to the idea that if the House Democrats can just call more witnesses on the Senate floor that somehow they will stumble upon something resembling an impeachable offense, you will have your chances in November of 2020 to make your voice heard.  But please know that the House impeachment was never about convicting Donald Trump, instead it was nothing more than a chance for coastal politicians to preen in front of cameras and raise money to fund their future political ambitions.  The House impeachment was nothing more than Kabuki Theatre on a national stage with fundraising appeals accompanying every manufactured highlight.

“It is truly sad that the House’s political ambitions were put ahead of our national interest, but in some ways it was good for America to witness the lengths Democrats will go to win power as we head into the 2020 election.

“Crowds of more than 100,000 in Wildwood, New Jersey and 150,000 ticket requests along with a standing room only crowd in Des Moines, Iowa with people outside the venue watching in sub-freezing weather, turned the Democrats hope to mobilize their base and demoralize the President’s through impeachment on its head.  The surprising part is that the crowds are not just GOP faithful, the New Jersey crowd had a significant number of south Jersey Democrats with the President making an appeal for them to join former Democrat and current Republican Congressman Jeff Van Drew in switching political parties. Additionally, while polling is generally untrustworthy when it comes to Trump, the President’s national head to head numbers have gotten significantly better since the beginning of this impeachment play.

“Tonight, if the Democrats and the nation gets lucky, the Senate will vote down a long-drawn out process for additional witnesses, and will vote to acquit, freeing Amy Klobacher, Bernie Sanders, and Elizabeth Warren to chase around Iowa for a few days before the Caucus on Monday, February 3rd and New Hampshire eight days later.

“It is time to end impeachment today, and let the Senate get back to confirming judges who will make an impact for a generation.”

If the House gets 19 witnesses, then so should the President

Jan. 30, 2020, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement urging that if witnesses are allowed in the Senate, the President’s legal team should have discretion to call as many witnesses as they want:

“Should the Senate decide to open the door to witnesses, the President should be allowed to call any witness given the House of Representatives decision to not allow his participation in the House impeachment efforts.  At the very least, the President should be allowed to call any witness who was requested by House Republicans including Alexandra Chalupa, Eric Ciaramella, Joe and Hunter Biden. The Senate should not allow the House Managers to use their floor to further their failed witch hunt, without affording the President expansive rights to present alternative witnesses who demonstrate why the inclusion of Biden and/or Burisma into the conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. If the House gets 19 witnesses, then so should the President.”

After impeachment, Congress should address surprise medical billing, avoid price fixing

Jan. 30, 2020, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement urging Congress to address the issue of surprise medical billing after the Senate impeachment trial ends:

“Once the Senate finishes exonerating President Donald Trump of Adam Schiff and Nancy Pelosi’s fantasy impeachment charges, Congress will be facing many tough issues. Surprise medical billing is one of these that are likely to emerge and one proposed ‘solution’ is a trap that must be avoided.  One-sized fits all medical pricing is being pushed by the health insurance industry fixes rates to the benefit of insurance companies and detriment of health care providers. The failed state of California has already tried the one-price fits all model and in just three years is beginning to suffer from shortages of physicians and other health care providers who are being priced out of existence by insurers. When Congress deals with surprise medical billing, it is important for them to ensure that markets are maintained and there is a way for insurers and health care providers to iron out their payment disputes between themselves, protecting patients from surprise bills which insurers refuse to pay.”

ALG praises Sen. Josh Hawley for reported question on Schiff relationship with whistleblower

Jan. 29, 2020, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement responding to Sen. Josh Hawley’s (R-Mo.) plan to ask U.S. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) what his office’s relationship was to the anonymous CIA so-called whistleblower:

“U.S. Rep. Adam Schiff has an absolute responsibility to truthfully answer questions about his office’s relationship with the anonymous CIA so-called whistleblower. The defense has a due process right to all potentially exculpatory evidence in the prosecution’s possession. Schiff’s conundrum is whether he continues the lie that he didn’t know the whistleblower, or admit that he has been withholding evidence the whole time and the entirety of the Ukraine impeachment scheme was born in his office. The irony of Schiff’s conundrum is that while lying to Congress for normal citizens is a crime, members of Congress lying on the floor is not. Either way, however Schiff answers, if witnesses are allowed, it is incumbent that the Senate fully explore either the truthfulness of Schiff’s statement, or the origins of this fake impeachment scandal.”

“The USMCA is the beginning stages of bringing the Trump trade agenda around the world and will result in more U.S. manufacturing jobs, higher standards of living and increased overall economic growth. USMCA puts America on the course to allowing American businesses and companies to compete on a level playing field, and when Americans can compete fairly, Americans win.”

Bolton’s sour grapes should not extend impeachment

Jan. 28, 2020, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement on the potential testimony of former National Security Advisor John Bolton:

“Yesterday’s presentation by the President’s team proves conclusively that not only are the Articles of Impeachment constitutionally invalid, but the President’s actions in his call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky were completely justified given former Vice President Joe Biden’s deep and obvious conflict of interests due to his son’s board membership of the corrupt natural gas firm, Burisma. There is simply no excuse for anyone to vote to hear additional witnesses as no one will be able to change the facts. The Ukrainians did not know that any military assistance was being withheld until it was reported publicly, and the monies were released well in advance of the end of the fiscal year. In fact, it was released on the same day John Bolton was fired for his ongoing attempts to get America embroiled in wars around the world. It is a shame Bolton has allowed his hurt ego and his desire to score book sales to drive this naked attempt to harm the President of the United States. This is particularly true since he cannot say anything that will change the facts of the case that demand acquittal.”

Trump Defense Team Member former Florida Attorney Pam Bondi nails Joe and Hunter Biden Ukraine conflict of interest

Jan. 27, 2020, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement regarding the arguments of Pam Bondi, the former Florida Attorney General, before the US Senate today:

“The entirety of the House impeachment case rests on the presumption that there was nothing to be concerned about relating to former Vice President Joe Biden’s son’s Board membership with the Ukraine natural gas firm Burisma.  Bondi’s meticulous outlining of the Burisma corruption case and the public reporting of it, makes it unambiguously clear that the President not only was correct to ask for the Ukrainians to get to the bottom of the allegations, but would have been derelict in his duties and responsibilities if he had not done so.”

If Bolton testifies, so should Schiff, the Bidens, the ‘whistleblower,’ and the fired Ukrainian prosecutor

Jan. 27, 2020, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement regarding the leak of portions of John Bolton’s book:

“The leak of parts of John Bolton’s book out of the National Security Council is clearly designed to impact the impeachment trial. No matter what the book claims, the facts remain the same. The Ukrainian government had zero knowledge that the funds were being held until a story ran on August 28.  Senator Ron Johnson, who was meeting with the Ukrainians on September 1 along with Vice President Pence, called President Trump about what they should ask for in exchange for the aid being released, to which the President replied, ‘No way. I would never do that. Who told you that?’ And, that he would likely be happy with the decision that was made: ‘We’re reviewing it now, and you’ll probably like my final decision.’

“No matter what any witnesses say about the President’s internal thoughts or even complaints about the unfairness of a system that spent three years investigating him when he did nothing and closes its eyes to obvious abuses of power and corruption by the Clintons and Bidens, the bottom line fact is that the Ukrainians were never told by U.S. officials that aid was being withheld prior to the Politico story, and that the aid was released two weeks after the hold was reported, three weeks prior to the deadline.

“Facts matter.  The actions taken were perfectly legal and the impeachment continues to be nothing more than a continuation of the three-year coup against the duly-elected President of the United States.  And given the persistent leaks from the National Security Council staff, it is clear that the only people seeking to have an undue influence on the 2020 U.S. election are the Obama holdovers in the White House and their ongoing efforts to knee-cap President Trump.  The Senate needs to take the evidence that is being laid before them and acquit the President, rather than being buffeted by the same kind of campaign of disinformation that the nation endured throughout the Mueller investigation.  Dragging out this trial for any longer does a grievous disservice to our nation, as fairness would dictate that if witnesses are allowed to be called, then any and every witness the President wishes to bring forward should be allowed including the so-called whistleblower, Adam Schiff, the Schiff staff that colluded with the ‘whistleblower’, Clinton operatives who worked the Ukraine for cash, the Ukrainian prosecutors who investigated Biden corruption and the New York Times reporters who received the selective leaks of the Bolton book.  Let’s hear the NY Times reporters claim source protection privilege when the President is not afforded the basic Executive Privileges that every Chief Executive has had and defended since George Washington.”

“The Senate has a choice.  Either end this fraudulent impeachment, or open it up into a free for all.  After three years of being ‘prosecuted’ in the press and three months of the House ‘impeachment’ hearings, mostly held in secret, the President deserves to be able to completely and fully make his case if additional House witnesses are allowed to be called.  If the Senate doesn’t have the stomach for opening the door to a full inquiry into the corruption of the Ukrainian involvement on behalf of Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election, the Bidens money grab and the shady Schiff House process, then they should not open the door to any additional witnesses.”
