Georgia signature verification essential to legitimacy of election

Nov. 30, 2020, Fairfax, Va.–Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement urging the Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to complete signature verification of absentee mail-in ballots in accordance with Georgia state law:

“Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger has an affirmative responsibility to ensure that the Georgia election results reflect the actual legal votes cast in Georgia for the presidential race. There is no way to certify the resultsĀ  without allowing signature verification on mail-in absentee ballots in accordance with state law. In March, Raffensperger’s office entered into a consent decree that effectively nullified the ability to determine fraudulently filed mail-in ballots. Given the massive increase of mail-in ballots from 2020 compared to 2016, it is reasonable for the Georgia government to follow the written law in order to make certain that the Covid emergency was not used as a pretense for voter fraud. While we recognize that the consent decree was agreed to under stressful times, it is clear that the interest of the people of the state of Georgia demand signature verification with 100 percent scrutiny from both political parties to put concerns about the election’s outcome to rest.”
