Widespread ballot counting software errors impacting races at every level
Fairfax, Va – Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement in reaction to news of a glitch in ballot counting software used in more than half of the state’s 83 counties. The errors have impacted the outcome of at least one local race and the presidential vote count in one county:
“Michigan state law provides that if a ‘mistake in the canvass of the votes by the inspectors of election’ is found then the Secretary of State must provide for a recount.
“It is imperative that at a minimum every one of the 47 counties potentially impacted by this glitch do a hand recount of every ballot cast. The software errors are so widespread that the vote count in Michigan cannot be trusted. The only way to know the true winner of every local, state, and national race is for a hand recount.
“It is critical that every vote is counted accurately so Americans can trust the results of not only this election, but every election.”
