March 11, 2020, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement urging President Donald Trump to reject attempts by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Minority Leader (D-N.Y.) to leverage coronavirus fears to expand the size and scope of government:
“Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer are determined not to let the coronavirus panic go to waste, proposing knee-jerk economically transformative spending plans that neither meet the needs of the crisis nor our nation’s limited government priorities. Pelosi and Schumer know that once government giveaways are put into place, they rarely if ever are rescinded. President Trump should reject these blatant attempts to leverage fear into a permanent expansion of the size and scope of government.”
