June 6, 2018, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement urging the House to support an amendment by U.S. Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) to H.R. 5895, Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2019 that would reduce the salary of Mark Gabriel, the Administrator of the Western Area Power Administration, to $1:
“On Mark Gabriel’s watch, WAPA employees used federal credit cards to buy $6.8 million of personal items. Who elected Mark Gabriel? The fact is President Trump was elected to office, not Mr. Gabriel. This bureaucrat does not get to override the President simply because he does not like the policy. It is time for Congress to fulfill their basic responsibilities and start holding these out of control bureaucrats accountable when they refuse to follow the law.”
