May 18, 2017, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement in response to former FBI Director James Comey’s May 3 Senate Judiciary Committee testimony saying no political interference with FBI investigations had ever occurred on his watch, when he said, “I’m talking about a situation where we were told to stop something for a political reason, that would be a very big deal. It’s not happened in my experience.”:
“James Comey’s sworn testimony on May 3 under penalty of perjury that the FBI under his watch was never told to stop an investigation for political reasons — months after Comey’s meeting with President Trump — destroys the Democrat narrative that Trump somehow ever attempted to obstruct the FBI investigation. It is time for Congress to stop chasing these distractions and get back to work on the agenda members were elected to implement. In the meantime, the Obama holdovers who somehow still remain in government should be immediately dismissed to end these nonsensical and prejudicial leaks designed to overturn the 2016 election result. It is time for the Trump administration to begin.”
