Aug. 15, 2024, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement praising House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and other House GOP leaders for opposing prescription drug price controls by the Biden-Harris administration:
“House GOP leadership gets it exactly right in pointing out that the falsely named Inflation Reduction Act’s inclusion of a mandate from bureaucrats to set prescription drug prices has done untold damage to the American health care system. Rather than lower costs, the provisions have made it so patients see fewer choices, higher prices and a decline in investment in future cures. This is just one more example of Kamala Harris’ tie-breaking vote in the Senate wreaking havoc on our nation’s economic and health care system.
“Americans for Limited Government has been pointing to the damage being done through the Biden-Harris prescription drug price fixing scheme for months, and this statement by the House GOP Leadership emphasizes how disastrous Biden-Harris’ expansion of the power of unelected bureaucrats over the pricing of medicine has been to patient’s health and the ability of doctors to prescribe the medicines needed free from meddling from Washington, D.C.”
