House must move to replace Secret Service head Cheatle

July 22, 2024, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement in response to Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle’s testimony today before the House Oversight Committee:

“Today’s hearing on the attempted assassination of former president Donald Trump shows that Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle is completely unsuitable to remain in her position. Cheatle’s stonewalling and failure to answer basic questions about the shooting is shocking. For a full nine days after President Trump was shot, Cheatle claimed to still be looking into basic facts about the shooting.

“If I were Vice President Harris, President Biden, former president Trump, Robert Kennedy, Jr. or any other protectee, I’d be frightened by the Director’s apparent lack of awareness and inability to tighten up the failures in the protection provided in Butler, Pa.  Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called Cheatle’s claim that it will take 60 days to get an initial internal evaluation as ‘unacceptable’ at the House Oversight Committee hearing on the assassination attempt.

“For the security of our national leaders, Cheatle must be replaced immediately, and articles of impeachment should be drafted for immediate consideration by the House and Senate.”
