July 15, 2024, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement urging Secret Service protection for presidential candidate Robert Kennedy, Jr.:
“Robert Kennedy, Jr. has been asking the Secret Service for a protection for months and has been denied. In light of the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump, and the tragic history of the assassinations of John Kennedy and Robert Kennedy, it is imperative that the Secret Service bolster efforts to secure the 2024 election by safeguarding the candidates’ lives including Robert Kennedy, Jr. As Congress investigates what happened in Butler, Pa. on July 13, a parallel inquiry must be carried out into what appears to be a pattern of political interference in protection, including requests for additional security by Kennedy and Trump that appear to have been denied, and see to it that legislation is produced which guarantees protection for presidential candidates, whether they’re polling 50%, 15% or just 5%. This must never happen again.”
