Sept. 28, Fairfax, Va.–Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement in favor of Amendment #73 to H.R. 4873 by U.S. Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.):
“Americans for Limited Government supports Amendment #73 to prohibit funds executing Presidential Proclamation 10606 that created a national monument prohibiting mineral extraction on almost a million acres in Arizona, including potential rare earth deposits. At a time when China dominates global rare earth production, America’s national security depends upon an expansion of domestic mineral production in the U.S., not reducing it. Representative Gosar’s Amendment 73 wisely stops the Biden administration from further strangling mineral resource extraction impacting a million acres of Arizona land. The Biden administration may not care about protecting America from Chinese dominance of rare earth and other minerals, but Congress must stop this administration’s attempted resource development surrender to the Chinese by voting in favor of Amendment 73 to H.R. 4873 Department of Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2024.”
