Sept. 7, 2023, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement praising U.S. Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) for offering legislation that prohibits Covid mask mandates on federal transit:
“Sen. J.D. Vance has forced a vote in the Senate on legislation prohibiting mask mandates on federal transportation. Unfortunately, Democrat Sen. Ed Markey objected to passing the mask prohibition by unanimous consent, confirming suspicions that the Biden administration is considering a return to its tyrannical, unscientific mandates of 2021. The Vance anti-mandate, pro-freedom legislation is a first step to stop future abuses of executive branch power at the expense of the American people’s liberties.
“Over the course of the past two years Americans for Limited Government has sent millions of emails to Congress, Governors and state legislatures opposing mask mandates, vaccine mandates, economic lockdowns and school closures that had devastating consequences on the economy and the American people including children. Sen. Vance was elected in 2022 having lived under the burden of the Covid mandates as a private citizen, and it is refreshing that he is pushing forward to restore Americans’ freedom from federal government’s unconstitutional dictates. One of the British rock band The Who’s anthems is we won’t be fooled again. The American people will not comply, and Congress needs to assert its power to assure that they never have to.”
