All legally cast votes need to be counted before victory is proclaimed.
Nov. 6, 2020, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement urging former Vice President Joe Biden not to declare victory while many states remain too close to call:
“It would be irresponsible for Joe Biden to declare victory when all the legal votes have not yet been counted. In Pennsylvania, it is unclear who will end up with the most votes given the Trump-trending results on provisional ballots. In Georgia, the margin of difference between the two candidates is about 0.01 percent and needs to be evaluated through a mandatory recount. In Arizona, which Fox News prematurely called for Joe Biden, there are strong reasons to believe that ballots being counted will provide sufficient votes for Donald Trump to win the state. And lastly, Trump leads in North Carolina, and those precious late arriving votes Democrats love so much have not yet been counted. Joe Biden needs to exercise the same patience he urged for President Trump not to create false expectations for the outcome, risking violence in the streets by Biden supporters should the outcome be overturned when all the legally cast votes are counted.
“This doesn’t even include Michigan Republican Party Chair Laura Cox stating that a vote-counting software glitch in a program used by 47 counties in Michigan may have produced thousands of votes for Biden that should have been credited to Trump. As President Trump would say: Go slow, Joe, go slow.”
