Trump brings in intelligence outsider Richard Grenell to clean up deep state mess

Feb. 20, 2020, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement in support of President Donald Trump’s choice of Richard Grenell to serve as acting Director of National Intelligence:

“The political weaponization of our intelligence apparatus the past four years has been an unacceptable breach of the agreements made with the American people when their representatives in Congress vested such incredible powers to these unelected bureaucrats. The President’s selection of Richard Grenell as acting DNI brings in someone with a wealth of foreign policy experience who is untainted by this weaponization, allowing him to provide information and advice that the President can trust. It is sad that the Washington Post and New York Times are upset that one of their sources will not be heading the Office of National Intelligence unlike in the past, but the President was elected and can choose whoever he wants and Grenell is a highly qualified diplomat who has proven himself under the most difficult circumstances. The President’s choice to have someone outside the intelligence establishment in this important role is particularly significant as our nation seeks to recover from the politicized intelligence abuses and reform the FISA system to ensure that it never happens again.”
