ALG supports Attorney General William Barr

May 8, 2019, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement in response to the House Judiciary Committee holding Attorney General William Barr in contempt:

“It is astonishing that House Democrats continue to cling to their desperate, phony conspiracy theory that President Trump is a Russian agent when the Mueller report found no conspiracy with Russia by any Americans. It is apparently lost on them that grand jury testimony is not for public dissemination under the law for the very specific reason that in America we have a presumption of innocence, and it is inherently unfair to everyone who testified over the past two years under the legal certainty of secrecy that it would be cavalierly exposed by shameless politicians.

“It is clear that House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler is intent on keeping his boast that he will impeach President Trump made on an Amtrak train over an unsecured line and overheard by a reporter sitting on the train. Facts don’t matter to Nadler, only politics, and this latest attempt to smear Attorney General William Barr is designed to accomplish two purposes. First and most obviously, the Democrats continue to refuse to acknowledge that Trump is the President of the United States and are using virtually any means necessary to oust him. Second and more importantly, Nadler and the Democrats need to discredit Attorney General Barr in advance of his investigation to get to the bottom of the origins of the fake Russia collusion claims. The obvious fear is that the truth will come out without having discredited the messenger, Barr, in advance.

“Americans for Limited Government urges Barr to hold firm and get to the bottom of this mess. We can never again tolerate our domestic intelligence services engaging in political spying and a blatant attempt to not only influence an election, but to overturn its results.”
