Justice Department right to sue to block AT&T-Time Warner merger

Nov. 20, 2017, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement praising the Justice Department for suing to stop the AT&T-Time Warner merger:

“The Justice Department is right to move to block the AT&T-Time Warner merger. The mass media consolidation where major content providers and content deliverers band together risks the free flow of information that is the cornerstone of the marketplace of ideas. The Justice Department action marks an important new direction away from the rubber stamping of mega media mergers toward ensuring that a competitive environment remains. Unlike most mergers, the AT&T-Time Warner marriage has a significant potential influence on the already near-monolithic media impacting the essence of a democratic society. Attorney General Jeff Sessions is proving once again to be the exact right person to run the Department of Justice.”
