Attorney General Jeff Sessions is getting the Uranium One investigation right

Nov. 21, 2017, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement responding to concerns by members of Congress that Attorney General Jeff Sessions is not moving vigorously enough to pursue the Uranium One investigation:

“Attorney General Jeff Sessions is getting the Uranium One investigation right. As much as we like to know every detail of what is going on, the job of the Attorney General is not to publicly try cases in the media before charges are ready to be brought. Instead, the Attorney General needs to take the time to get to the truth to decide if a law has been broken, and then pursue justice through the courts.

“After the overt politicization of the Justice Department by President Obama, Attorney General Jeff Sessions is reestablishing the rule of law. Attorney General Jeff Sessions was a former federal prosecutor who understands the importance of doing the hard work of building a case that ensures the rights of those being investigated are protected until charges are brought, if any, and then they are proven guilty in a court of law. Unfortunately, the nature of the modern 24-7 media is to demand leaks and new information on an almost daily basis. However, no matter how juicy or big the potential target of an investigation might be, the rule of law demands a sober and thorough investigation.

“America is witnessing legal intimidation and prosecution through the media by the rogue Special Counsel Robert Mueller. And Congress is rightly angry about his unethical tactics. Rather than asking Attorney General Sessions to emulate Mueller’s perversion of the law, they should be applauding Sessions’ reestablishing the American way of justice that no one is guilty until proven in a court of law.”
