Now, President Donald Trump has the political high ground and the advantage on any debt ceiling fight, because he controls the timing, simply by declaring that the Treasury is now implementing so-called ‘extraordinary measures’ as the suspension of the debt ceiling ends today. The debt ceiling now provides a unique opportunity to create real reforms on a must-pass vote, giving Trump and Republicans in Congress another vehicle to reduce the size and role of government and drain the swamp.”
