House should pass S.J. Res. 11 to overturn new EPA regulation on truck emissions

May 23, 2023, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement urging the U.S. House of Representatives to pass S.J. Res. 11, providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Environmental Protection Agency relating to “Control of Air Pollution From New Motor Vehicles: Heavy-Duty Engine and Vehicle Standards”:

“America has been racked with supply chain disruptions throughout the Biden Administration. Some of these were a result of production failures in China and elsewhere, some were the result of California laws impacting the delivery of products from the docks to the rest of the country, and some were a result of the time it took to get the supply system flowing again after Covid.  However, there is no excuse for the Biden administration to put forward a regulatory standard which deliberately sabotages the ability of our nation’s trucking system to function in the future.

“It is not the EPA’s job to destroy and distort markets as this regulation would do, and Americans for Limited Government strongly urges the House to join the Senate in disapproving the ‘Control of Air Pollution from New Motor Vehicles: heavy-Duty Engine and Vehicle Standards’ regulation by passing S.J. Res. 11.”

AM Radio ‘critical party of national emergency broadcast system’ and one of the few reliable communications signals for rural America

May 18, 2023, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement in support of the “AM for Every Vehicle Act” by Senators Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Ed Markey (D-Mass.):

“AM radio in vehicles is both a critical part of the national emergency broadcast system, but it is also one of the few reliable communications tools available to reach rural America.  Due to AM radio’s unique suitability for transmission over long distances and its usage for news/talk formats, AM’s presence in vehicles is as essential today as it was forty years ago.

“AM radio connects our nation and Senators Ted Cruz and Ed Markey are right to recognize through their joint introduction in the Senate of the ‘AM for Every Vehicle Act’ that auto manufacturers have a responsibility to include AM in the auto fleets of the future.”

Durham report: Russiagate wrongfully predicated, no real remedy offered

May 15, 2023, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement in response to Special Counsel John Durham’s final report to Attorney General Merrick Garland:

“The Durham Report outlines 316 pages of Obama administration Justice Department, intelligence agencies and State Department abuses during the Russia collusion hoax. The report vindicates President Trump, who was wrongfully targeted by an alphabet soup of agencies that resulted in nearly three years of unwarranted investigations. These included the flagrant abuse of the FISA court system, which allowed for electronic surveillance for almost a year of the Trump campaign, transition and administration predicated on nothing more than the wild lies of the Hillary Clinton campaign and the DNC.

“It is disappointing that Durham failed to provide Congress with a reasonable remedy to these abuses other than Former NSA General Counsel Stewart Baker’s recommendation ‘for an official to challenge both a politically sensitive FISA application and other stages of the investigation’ during and after FISA’s ex parte proceedings. Trusting the Justice Department to not lie again is not a solution to the destruction of individual liberty that the FISA warrant abuses have revealed. Abusers of this system must be held legally accountable. Either all those involved were dupes, and future penalties for federal officials should range from losing your job and pension if you’re too stupid to ask any questions about spying on presidential campaigns and/or significant prison time if you’re found to have been actively attempting to change election results or take down an elected president under false pretenses with spying.”

Correction: a version of this statement incorrectly quoted former DOJ General Counsel Jim Baker. It was Stewart Baker, former NSA General Counsel for whom the quote should have been attributed.

With inflation still elevated, now is the time to cut spending with Limit, Save, Grow

May 9, 2023, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement urging the Senate to pass the Limit, Save, Grow Act:

“With inflation still elevated, regardless of tomorrow’s Bureau of Labor Statistics report, with the Federal Reserve having recently increased interest rates again, it is safe to say that interest costs on the $31.4 trillion national debt will continue to mount. Since government spending in recent years has been one of the primary drivers for too much money flooding the system, coming at a time of economic lockdowns and production halts from Covid, it was chasing too few goods.

“Since Covid ended in 2021, interest rates on 10-year treasuries have increased from about 1.5 percent to 3.5 percent at a time when the U.S. has been accumulating trillions of dollars of new debt, which has increased by $8.5 trillion since Jan. 2020, $7.8 trillion of which is publicly tradeable debt. In the meantime, in the next year alone, $7.1 trillion, or about 29.1 percent of the $24.6 trillion publicly tradeable debt will be coming due, according to the latest data from the U.S. Treasury.

“That is why the House Republican-offered Limit, Save, Grow Act is a reasonable approach to begin getting our spending under control. Over the next 10 years, interest owed on the debt alone will total more than $10 trillion, according to the White House Office of Management and Budget. The House plan would shave just $547 billion off of that, according to the Congressional Budget Office, in addition to another $4.3 trillion of real spending cuts. Consider that, $4.3 trillion of cuts only gets you $547 billion less debt service. This is why Limit, Save, Grow is just the first step in getting our fiscal house in order. It also why the Grow portion of Limit, Save, Grow is essential, because aggressive economic growth is the only way out the massive debt abyss that threatens to engulf us.”

FBI’s Christopher Wray needs to come clean Biden pay-for-play scheme

May 3, 2023, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement following Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and House Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) just announced that they are subpoenaing FBI Director Christopher Wray seeking a specific newly revealed document that could get to the bottom of credible whistleblower provided information that the FBI has been sitting on proof that then Vice President Joe Biden was allegedly involved in a criminal scheme with a foreign national “relating to the exchange of money for policy decisions”:

“FBI Director Christopher Wray has a history of sitting on information involving the Biden family for political purposes as witnessed by the FBI’s shameful role in not only covering up spying on Trump, but actively discouraging the distribution by social media and other news outlets of a 2020 New York Post story detailing politically damning and likely illegal revelations related to the Hunter Biden laptop.

“Due to Wray’s history of political misconduct in office, the whistleblower’s contention that his FBI is sitting on a Justice Department document that the whistleblower contends may reveal pay for play evidence between then Vice President Biden and a foreign national is credible.  It is important that Americans provide Joe Biden the presumption of innocence even as the left denies it to President Trump, because we must restore some semblance of the rule of law and equal justice in this country.

“Chairman Comer and Ranking Member Grassley are to be commended for their efforts to get to the bottom of what appears to be a credible allegation of corruption in the interest of justice, and hopefully the FBI Director won’t hide behind a hollow statement that the allegations are part of an on-going investigation and, for once, tell the American public the truth.”

Time to pass the Limit, Save, Grow Act and restore fiscal sanity–before it’s too late

April 26, 2023, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement urging passage of the H.R. 2811, the Limit, Save, Grow Act:

“Americans for Limited Government strongly urges the House of Representatives to pass the Limit, Save, Grow Act, H.R. 2811.

“Our nation is at a precipice of the $31. 4 trillion national debt which threatens our economic viability in unimaginable ways. When combined with the threat to the U.S. dollar as the world reserve currency, it is unimaginable that anyone would vote against legislation which responsibly cuts the size and scope of a federal government that has been artificially bloated by the Covid response.

“America cannot kick the spending can down the road any further.  We understand the distaste with raising the debt ceiling, but it would be an enormous mistake to miss this opportunity for the House to not only cut the fiscal growth of government, but also to pass the REINS Act and energy production permitting reform to put our nation back on the pathway to energy dominance.

“Please vote in favor of H.R. 2811.”

U.S. House votes to end ‘woke insanity’ that is overtaking women’s sports

April 20, 2023, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement praising the U.S. House of Representatives for passing “The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act of 2023,” H.R. 734:

“Today, the U.S. House of Representatives voted to protect women’s sports by denying biological men from ‘competing’ in them.  The federal government has sought to create an even playing field for men and women in collegiate sports through enforcement of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972.  Today, female collegiate athletes receive close to half of the college athletic scholarships and formerly non-existent women’s athletic programs are beginning to thrive – see the NCAA women’s basketball final which dominated sports talk while the men’s champion was largely ignored.

“The House passage of H.R. 7344, the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, is a step ahead in the effort to restore some level of sanity in our nation’s athletic systems.  Only the most deluded would claim that there are not inherent biological differences between men and women.  In fact, at one point at the height of the best women’s tennis player in history’s career, Serena Williams, she unequivocally made this point.

“Appearing on the Late Show with David Letterman, Williams said, ‘Actually it’s funny, because Andy Murray, he’s been joking about myself and him playing a match. I’m like, ‘Andy, seriously, are you kidding me?’ For me, men’s tennis and women’s tennis are completely, almost, two separate sports.’

“The tennis all-time great continued, “If I were to play Andy Murray, I would lose 6-0, 6-0 in five to six minutes, maybe 10 minutes. No, it’s true. It’s a completely different sport. The men are a lot faster and they serve harder, they hit harder, it’s just a different game.”

“Women’s sports have made incredible leaps over the past fifty years, there is no excuse to destroy them on the altar of woke insanity.”

Time to ‘fight like crazy’ for Limit, Save and Grow path back to fiscal sanity

April 19, 2023, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement urging the House and Senate to pass House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s (R-Calif.) Limit, Save and Grow Act:

“House Republicans are putting forward one of the most substantial proposals to limit the size and scope of government in the last decade with their debt ceiling and spending cut legislation as a true path back to fiscal sanity. This legislation not only limits the fiscal growth of government through discretionary spending caps, but also contains provisions that limit the growth of the administrative state, roll back regulations, rescind green subsidies and end Biden’s stranglehold on American energy production.

“This legislation is a tour de force that Republicans in the Senate should embrace wholeheartedly, putting the White House in a position where they will be forced to compromise or run the risk of defaulting on the $31.4 trillion U.S. national debt. Our nation is in trouble and everyone in the world seems to know it, including foreign institutional investors who are cutting treasuries purchases, except for President Biden and his minions.

“House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s boldness in bringing forward this plan provides hope for those of us who believe that America can still be the strongest nation in the world in the 21st Century. Now it’s up to us to fight like crazy to force those who would do nothing in these dangerous times to wake up, do their jobs and defend America’s economic might.”

U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson was right. Obama lied about illegal aliens getting ACA coverage.

April 13, 2023, Fairfax, Va.—Americans Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement blasting a proposal by President Joe Biden to offer health care coverage to illegal aliens under the Affordable Care Act, including Medicaid or the taxpayer subsidized individual insurance exchanges:

“When former President Barack Obama claimed while in office to the U.S. Congress that illegal aliens would not be eligible for Obamacare, U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson shouted two words that were heard around the world, ‘YOU LIE.’

“U.S. Rep. Wilson was pilloried for his audacity in calling out the former president’s politically motivated claim, but once again, he has been proven eerily prescient. President Joe Biden’s Department of Health and Human Services has announced that they are seeking to redefine the term ‘lawful resident’ via regulation to make illegal aliens who came to the U.S. as children eligible for the budget busting federal government health insurance plan.  Biden, for his part, tweeted, ‘Today, my Administration is announcing our plan to expand health coverage for Dreamers, the thousands of young people brought to the U.S. as kids. We’re not done fighting for their pathway to citizenship, but we’re getting them the opportunities they deserve in the meantime.’

“Not surprisingly, none of the professional fourth estate defenders of the Obama-Biden assault on the laws of the nation have issued a public apology to Representative Wilson for his forceful truth-telling so many years ago.”

A day when politics trumped justice

April 4, 2023, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement in response to the arraignment of former President Donald Trump:

“Today is one of the historic lows for America’s judicial system, a day when politics trumped justice as Americans overwhelmingly have come to the realization that Lady Justice is no longer blindfolded. In spite of the circus in New York City today, America is still a great country and Americans need to get on our knees and pray for God’s blessing moving forward.”
